Jennifer Lopez Is Back in Full Glam Mode — Her ‘Office Romance’ Press Tour Looks Are Stealing Every Spotlight
Jennifer Lopez has never needed much of an excuse to deliver a fashion moment, but a Netflix press tour provides plenty of them. The global icon is currently making the rounds to promote her long-awaited return to romantic comedy, and every appearance is being dissected with the kind of attention that only a certain caliber of celebrity can command.
‘Office Romance‘ is a saucy rom-com about a secret office romance and the chaos two workaholics get into following their hearts, now streaming on Netflix. The film is directed by Ol Parker and written by Brett Goldstein and Joe Kelly, also starring Betty Gilpin, Amy Sedaris, Tony Hale, Bradley Whitford, and Edward James Olmos. It is the kind of project built for a cultural moment, and Lopez is leaning all the way into it.
A photo shared to social media shows Lopez posing in a sharp black-and-white houndstooth mini dress, thigh-high black boots, and sleek amber-tinted aviator sunglasses, accessorized with a structured black leather clutch with gold hardware. It is a look that reads CEO energy from head to heel, perfectly echoing the powerful executive she plays in the film. The internet, predictably, had thoughts, and most of them were entirely complimentary.
The film centers on Jackie Cruz (Lopez), the driven airline CEO of AirCruz, and Daniel Blanchflower (Goldstein), a company lawyer tapped to help the airline weather a major legal crisis. Daniel instantly falls for Jackie the moment he sees her, and Goldstein always intended to have Lopez and only Lopez in the role.
Goldstein co-wrote the script with his ‘Ted Lasso’ collaborator Joe Kelly, and the two are self-described fans of old school rom-coms. When Lopez received the script, her reaction was one of instant delight. She said, “I was a fan of his. People know that I’m obsessed with ‘Ted Lasso.’ When he sent the script, I was just like, ‘They wrote this for me?’ It was great.”
Speaking at the premiere of his film ‘All of You,’ Goldstein told Swooon that he envisioned Lopez in the lead role from the movie’s very inception. The mutual admiration is exactly the kind of behind-the-scenes energy that tends to translate on screen.
Lopez herself has been clear that ‘Office Romance’ is not a repeat of anything that came before it. Speaking to Netflix Tudum, Lopez said the film is “a very classic romantic comedy, but with these unexpected jokes,” adding, “It’s a little different from the other romantic comedies that I made, which are very sweet and wholesome.”
In an interview with Refinery29, Lopez noted that Jackie Cruz was a different kind of character for her entirely, explaining that in all her other rom-coms she played an aspirational underdog, whereas this woman has it together. She pointed out that Jackie is Latin, she created her own company, and she is the boss, and that was a big part of the appeal. She also credited the script’s adult humor and the male sensibility Goldstein and Kelly brought to it for making it feel unlike a typical rom-com.
The film also reteams Lopez with Edward James Olmos, who originally played her father in the 1997 film ‘Selena’ and will once again portray her onscreen father. That full-circle casting detail alone generated its own wave of excitement from fans who grew up watching the original.

The film has already made its impact felt far beyond the press circuit. In just one day, ‘Office Romance’ rushed to dominate the charts on Netflix, dethroning the animated movie ‘David’ to become the No. 1 film in 65 territories across the world, including the U.S. The rom-com has delivered impressive results, with strong rankings across major markets and continued momentum throughout its first week, proving that romantic comedies can still be major global events on Netflix.
The film is directed by the BAFTA-nominated Ol Parker, whose track record with crowd-pleasing romantic projects made him a natural fit for the material. Audience reactions have been divided, with some praising the entertaining chemistry between Lopez and Goldstein, while others found it predictable with typical genre clichés. Love it or critique it, nobody is ignoring it, and Jennifer Lopez arriving to press events looking like she just stepped out of the film’s wardrobe department is not exactly hurting the conversation.
