‘Office Romance’ Star Jennifer Lopez Reveals Her “Most Arousing” Film: “I Would Have Had Sex With Any of the Cast”
Jennifer Lopez has opened up in a playful and very honest way about a movie she found unexpectedly “arousing,” naming the 1993 crime romance True Romance during a recent podcast interview.
The conversation took place on Brett Goldstein’s show Films to Be Buried With, where guests are asked to reflect on the films that have influenced them and the emotions they connect with cinema.
Goldstein asked Lopez to pick a film from what he described as the “troubling boner” category, meaning a movie that felt unexpectedly sexually charged in a way that might feel a little confusing. Lopez laughed at the question before choosing True Romance, the Tony Scott-directed film written by Quentin Tarantino.
She described the film as full of “seedy” but highly charismatic characters, pointing out its large ensemble cast. The movie includes Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Val Kilmer, Gary Oldman, Brad Pitt, Samuel L. Jackson, Christopher Walken, and James Gandolfini among others.
Lopez spoke with enthusiasm about the energy of the film and the way the characters are written. She said, “There are all these very seedy characters in the movie.” She went on to describe Slater’s role as a record store worker who hallucinates Elvis, played by Val Kilmer, and praised Patricia Arquette’s performance as Alabama, calling her character unforgettable.
As the conversation became more playful, Lopez admitted just how strong her reaction to the cast was. She said, “I would have had sex with any one of them! That is the truth. Which says a lot about me, but maybe like the dark side of me. But all of them were so incredibly f—ing good in this movie.”

She also pointed out that the appeal of the film was not just about looks, but about the intensity and personality of the characters. Even violent or morally dark figures in the story, she said, still carried a strange kind of attraction on screen. She specifically mentioned Gary Oldman’s character Drexl Spivey, describing his look with gold teeth and dreadlocks as part of what made the performance so memorable.
Lopez also reflected on Patricia Arquette’s character, saying that even after being hurt in the film, she still felt magnetic and emotionally compelling. For Lopez, the combination of danger, style, and emotional vulnerability created a powerful cinematic mix.
True Romance itself was not a box office blockbuster on release, but it has since become a cult classic. Critics at the time were divided, with some praising its bold dialogue, sharp writing, and stylized violence, while others felt it leaned too heavily into excess. Over the years, however, it has grown in reputation and is now widely considered one of Tony Scott’s most distinctive films and one of Quentin Tarantino’s most influential early screenplays.
Many modern critics now highlight its fast pacing, memorable dialogue, and strong performances as key reasons for its lasting popularity. The chemistry between its large cast is often described as one of its biggest strengths, especially the performances of Arquette and Slater, which are frequently singled out as emotional anchors in an otherwise chaotic story.
Lopez’s comments reflect the film’s ongoing cultural impact. More than 30 years after its release, True Romance continues to be discussed not just as a crime thriller, but as a stylized, romantic, and emotionally intense piece of cinema that leaves a strong impression on viewers.
