‘Avengers: Endgame’ Returns With New Footage in Epic ‘Encore’ Re-Release
Disney is preparing to bring fans back to one of Marvel’s biggest moments with a special theatrical return of Avengers: Endgame, but this time the experience will come with a major upgrade.
The re-release, now officially titled Avengers: Endgame Encore, will introduce Disney’s new premium screening format called Infinity Vision, which aims to highlight the best movie screens around the world.
According to information shared during CineEurope, Disney’s new Infinity Vision program has already received more than 7,500 applications from theaters hoping to earn certification. The studio is currently reviewing those locations ahead of the Avengers: Endgame Encore release on September 25.
Infinity Vision is designed to help audiences find high-quality movie experiences beyond traditional premium formats like IMAX, Dolby Cinema, and 4DX. While those formats will continue to receive their own marketing campaigns, Disney wants Infinity Vision to act as a guide for moviegoers looking for large screens, strong sound systems, and upgraded theater technology.
The company first introduced the concept at CinemaCon, where Disney began discussing the idea with theater owners. Now, Disney executives are continuing to share more details with cinema chains around the world, including during their presentation at CineEurope in Barcelona.
One of the biggest announcements is that Avengers: Endgame Encore will not simply be a repeat showing. Disney confirmed that the special release will feature a custom introduction, additional new footage, and a special end tag that will only be available in Infinity Vision and IMAX screenings.
To qualify for the Infinity Vision label, theaters must meet several technical requirements. Screens must be at least 45 feet wide, include immersive audio systems such as Dolby Atmos or 7.1 sound, and reach specific brightness standards for both 2D and 3D presentations.

Disney’s move has received support from major theater executives. Cinemark CEO Sean Gamble praised the idea, saying, “As interest in enhanced theater amenities continues to grow, there is a meaningful opportunity for our collective industry to simplify how we communicate and promote the range of premium large format (PLF) experiences that are available to consumers.”
Gamble added that Cinemark supports Disney’s effort to create clearer standards for premium movie experiences and work toward a more recognizable system for audiences.
Regal Cineworld Group CEO Eduardo Acuna also welcomed the announcement, saying, “It’s been a long time coming, and we love that Disney is taking the lead in pointing moviegoers to the best theaters out there.” He added that having one recognizable brand could help fans know they are getting a high-quality experience before they even enter the theater.
Cinema United president Michael O’Leary also praised Disney’s efforts, saying, “We compliment Disney’s leadership in promoting the great myriad of theatrical experiences available to movie fans today.”
Along with promoting Avengers: Endgame Encore, Disney also showed previews of several upcoming projects during its CineEurope presentation. The studio shared footage from films including Avengers: Doomsday, Gatto, Hexed, Ice Age: Boiling Point, Moana, Star Wars: Starfighter, The Dog Stars, and Whalefall.
With Avengers: Doomsday arriving in theaters on December 18, Disney appears focused on making premium theatrical experiences a major part of its future releases. The launch of Infinity Vision could become another way studios and theaters try to bring audiences back for bigger and more immersive movie events.
