Cara Delevingne has spoken publicly about her past relationship with Amber Heard, saying they became romantically involved after Heard’s marriage to Johnny Depp ended.

The actress and model shared the details during a recent appearance on The Louis Theroux Podcast. During the conversation, host Louis Theroux asked Delevingne about long-standing rumors linking her to Heard while the actress was going through her divorce from Depp.

Theroux brought up reports that Depp had been jealous over speculation that Heard and Delevingne were involved. In response, Delevingne explained that the rumors started after they worked together on the film London Fields.

“Am I meant to comment? It’s because we did a movie together, and it was called London Fields. He was also doing the movie. I think he was pretty driven crazy by jealousy. Nothing was happening at that point. Later, after they divorced, it had, I suppose,” she said.

Theroux then asked her to explain what she meant. Delevingne said that she and Heard had been close friends for a long time before their relationship became romantic.

“We were close for a long time, and then when they were going through the divorce, yeah, we were entangled. … But she was also entangled with other people,” Delevingne said.

When Theroux replied, “Well, with Elon [Musk],” Delevingne answered, “There you go.”

According to the interview, Delevingne suggested that her relationship with Heard happened after Heard and Depp had already separated. Heard filed for divorce from Depp in 2016 after about a year of marriage. She later dated billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk before the relationship ended in early 2018.

The conversation also touched on other parts of Delevingne’s personal life. She spoke about her views on marriage and reflected on comments made to her years ago by former movie producer Harvey Weinstein.

Delevingne recalled receiving a phone call from Weinstein early in her career, during which he questioned her sexuality and warned her against dating women.

“Harvey Weinstein called me up and said, ‘Are you gay?’ And I was like, ‘Um, what do you mean?’ And he was like, ‘You should never be in a relationship with a woman… You’ll never make it in the industry if people think you’re gay,'” she said. She admitted those words affected her at the time. “And I really believed him, and I really took that to heart,” Delevingne said.

Looking back now, she said she realized she understood her sexuality from a young age, even if she did not fully recognize it at the time.

“Well, now I look back on it, it was super evident really young. I knew at, like, 11 years old. I had this one friend that I was like, ‘Oh, I think I care about her more than she likes me, and I don’t know how, but I do.’ It was obvious now, but then it really wasn’t, and I’m very proud of it now,” she said.

Delevingne added that becoming more open about her sexuality made her feel she could help others. “I think when I started talking about it and being open about it, I felt like there was a lot to fight for still at that point in terms of shows about gay people and people to look up to for younger kids,” she said.

The interview on The Louis Theroux Podcast marks one of the few times Delevingne has directly spoken about her past relationship with Heard, while also reflecting on other personal experiences that shaped both her life and career.
