The final stop on Christopher Nolan’s star-studded press tour for ‘The Odyssey‘ brought its full ensemble together in New York City this week, and few moments captured attention quite like watching Anne Hathaway make her way down the carpet. After stops in London and Paris, the Oscar winner arrived at the film’s New York premiere carrying both a major red carpet moment and some very personal news along with her.

Hathaway plays Penelope, the devoted wife of Matt Damon’s Odysseus, in Nolan’s sprawling adaptation of Homer’s ancient poem. Her presence at the premiere has been part of a fashion-heavy rollout that has seen the film’s cast lean into Grecian silhouettes and mythology-inspired styling at every stop, but this particular appearance carried extra significance given what the actress has been navigating in her personal life over the past month.

At the New York premiere, held at AMC Lincoln Square Theater, Hathaway stepped out in a striking halter gown featuring a sparkly silver crisscross bodice paired with a flowing, pleated silk skirt, all designed by Prada. She completed the look with jewelry from Bulgari, the house for which she serves as a global ambassador, and wore her hair swept up into a high bun that let the dramatic neckline of the gown take center stage.

The gown also gave Hathaway another opportunity to showcase her baby bump, continuing a maternity red carpet run that began shortly after she announced she was expecting her third child. The actress revealed the pregnancy in a video posted to Instagram on June 19, set to Barbara Lewis’s song “Baby, I’m Yours,” in which she walked into frame wearing a flowy white dress before dropping her arms to reveal her growing belly.

In the caption accompanying the announcement, Hathaway kept things simple, writing “x Baby, I’m yours x.” The pregnancy marks her third child with husband Adam Shulman, whom she married in 2012, and the couple are already parents to two sons, Jonathan, who is 10, and Jack, who is 6.

Hathaway has previously been candid about the emotional toll of trying to conceive, and she touched on that experience again around this pregnancy announcement. Speaking about the realities that often get left out of pregnancy stories, she told NBC News, “But a lot of people who are trying to get pregnant, that’s not really the story. Or that’s one part of the story. And the steps that lead up to that part of the story are really painful and very isolating and full of self-doubt. And I went through that.”

That kind of openness has become something of a pattern for Hathaway when discussing her family. While announcing her pregnancy with her son Jack back in 2019, she similarly acknowledged the struggles many face with infertility, sending support to anyone going through what she called conception hell.

The New York premiere comes during an unusually busy stretch for Hathaway professionally, even as she prepares to welcome her third child. This year alone has already seen the release of both “Mother Mary” and “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” with “The Odyssey” set to hit theaters on July 17 and “The End of Oak Street” following on August 14.

Hathaway’s appearance at the New York event joined a lineup that included fellow cast members Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, and Samantha Morton, all dressed in looks that echoed the film’s ancient Greek setting. The premiere marked the final major promotional stop before the film’s wide theatrical release, capping off a press tour that has generated nearly as much conversation for its fashion as for the movie itself.
