‘The Odyssey’ & ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Star Zendaya Announces a Break After a Massive 2026 Run Filled With Blockbusters and Big Moments
Few actresses have dominated a single calendar year quite like Zendaya has in 2026. Between blockbuster franchises, prestige dramas, and the long-awaited final season of the show that made her a star, she has spent nearly every month of the year attached to a major release, each one demanding its own round of interviews, red carpets, and international travel.
That relentless pace has finally caught up with her, at least by her own admission. Speaking about the exhausting rhythm of back-to-back promotional cycles, Zendaya opened up about just how disorienting the experience has become, even as she remains grateful for the opportunities driving it.
In a new interview, Zendaya confirmed she plans to take a real break once her current stretch of press tours wraps up, describing the nonstop travel and attention as something that has left her feeling scattered. “This is such a whirlwind, and you’re in a new place every second and your brain is all over the place. It’s fun and I’m grateful and I wouldn’t change a thing… but sometimes you need to disappear for a little bit,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
The comment lines up with a stretch of 2026 that has genuinely tested even her famously packed schedule. This year alone has brought five major projects into the spotlight, starting with ‘The Drama’ in April, followed almost immediately by the third and final season of ‘Euphoria’. From there, the pace only intensified, with Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ premiering in mid July and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘ following two weeks later, all while ‘Dune: Part Three‘ continues building toward its own end-of-year release.
Each of those projects came with its own sprawling international press tour, often overlapping in ways that had Zendaya bouncing between continents within the same week. The Odyssey and Spider-Man promotional cycles in particular ran almost in parallel, with the actress fielding questions about two entirely different film universes while still managing red carpet appearances for both.
This is not the first time Zendaya has hinted at needing a reset once the dust settles. Back in March, while promoting ‘The Drama’ alongside costars Robert Pattinson, Alana Haim, and Mamoudou Athie, she joked that she hoped fans would not get sick of seeing her before adding that she would be disappearing for a little bit once the year’s obligations wrapped up, going so far as to say she might need to go into hiding for a while.
That earlier comment was framed with a laugh, but her more recent remarks suggest the sentiment has only grown more sincere the further she has gotten into the year. Juggling that many productions has clearly taken a toll beyond just scheduling logistics, with Zendaya previously describing the experience of memorizing lines for multiple films while shooting overnight scenes for Euphoria as a genuinely disorienting stretch of her career.
Does Zendaya deserve a break after her massive 2026?
Despite the exhaustion clearly setting in, Zendaya has remained careful throughout to frame the situation with gratitude rather than complaint. She has repeatedly emphasized how much she appreciates the fans supporting each individual project, even while acknowledging that the sheer density of her 2026 slate has made it difficult to feel grounded in any single place for very long.
With ‘Dune: Part Three’ still ahead in December and presumably one more round of press obligations attached to it, fans may need to wait a little longer before Zendaya actually gets the chance to step back.
Whether that break ends up being weeks or months remains to be seen, but after the year she has had, few would argue she hasn’t earned it.
