Channing Tatum may be known for his impressive movie transformations, but according to PEOPLE, one of the biggest reasons behind his recent fitness success is his personal chef, Aline Fiuza. After working with the actor for several years, she has developed a few clever tricks to keep his diet healthy, including one that makes him eat vegetables without even realizing it.

Speaking to PEOPLE, Fiuza revealed that Tatum has never been a big fan of vegetables, which made her job especially challenging when they first started working together before the pandemic.

“At the time it was really funny because he wanted to be vegan, but he doesn’t [like to] eat any vegetables,” she said. “So I was just hiding vegetables inside of the foods, and I still do it. To this day I still play a game in my head, like, ‘How many vegetables can I hide in this?’”

Over the past four years, Fiuza has helped Tatum prepare for different movie roles that required major body changes. Depending on the project, the actor has needed to gain muscle, lose weight, or put on extra pounds. She explained that every production requires a different meal plan.

According to PEOPLE, Fiuza closely monitors Tatum’s body composition using a scale that measures muscle mass and body fat. She then adjusts his meals based on those results. “From there, we keep tweaking the plan,” she explained. “But every production is slightly different.”

Earlier this year, Tatum showed fans just how much his body has changed for recent films. He shared photos of himself weighing 235 pounds for the upcoming movie Josephine, 172 pounds for Roofman, and his current weight of 205 pounds.

While sharing the photos, the actor thanked the people who helped him achieve those dramatic changes.

“I’m so grateful for my genetics. Grateful for my chef/nutritionist/witch. Grateful for my trainer,” Tatum wrote. “I couldn’t make these big swings in my weight without you guys. But I won’t be doing anymore fat roles haha. It’s too hard on the body and too hard to take off now. But damn when I look at these pics it’s just wild what the human body and will can do.”

Fiuza also shared what Tatum’s current diet usually looks like. She said it focuses on vegetables, animal protein, nuts, and seeds. One ingredient appears on his plate more than almost anything else.

“He eats a lot of cauliflower rice, mostly because it’s the easiest to hide vegetable from him,” she told PEOPLE. “I can do cauliflower rice risotto or fried rice and I can put a lot of vegetables like mushrooms and peas inside because it has a good texture.” Of course, her plan does not always work.

“Sometimes he finds it, and then he won’t eat it,” she admitted with a laugh. She recalled making a warm salad with sweet potatoes, yellow beets, feta cheese, and arugula, hoping he would not notice the beets. “Oh, he could taste it,” she said. “He picked around but he didn’t eat the whole thing. He’s like a kid.”

According to Fiuza, when Tatum begins a new weight-loss phase, they usually start with a 24-hour fast where he drinks only water and bone broth. After that, he follows a short period of intermittent fasting before returning to three balanced meals each day. Despite his disciplined routine, the actor still has one favorite indulgence.

“Chocolate cake,” Fiuza revealed when asked about his biggest craving. She said she has learned how to make healthier versions of his favorite comfort foods, including pizza, bread, and desserts, so he can enjoy cheat meals without completely abandoning his nutrition plan.

Fiuza also shared a little about her own journey. Raised in Brazil, she struggled with stomach ulcers for years before studying cooking and Ayurvedic medicine. She credits that experience with teaching her how food can improve health and eventually led her to the career she has today.

Looking back at the progress Tatum has made, she said she is proud of how much his eating habits have changed.

Channing Tatum's chef hides vegetables in his meals to help keep him healthy. Would you let someone do the same for you?

“He eats every single one of them now. And I’m really proud of how far he has come, from eating rice and chicken to eating everything now,” she said. “He might not like eating them but he does.”
