Here’s the First Trailer for ‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ — Everything We Know About Its Release Date, Plot, and Voice Cast

Dragon Ball has never really left the cultural conversation, but the franchise is clearly gearing up for another major moment. Between ongoing manga chapters, new game announcements, and a fanbase that never seems to slow down, Toei Animation has spent the past few months teasing something big for longtime fans of Goku and company.

That tease has now taken shape. Toei Animation and Shueisha have confirmed ‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus,’ an enhanced reimagining of the anime’s earliest arcs, alongside a brand-new trailer that gives fans their first real look at what’s coming.

The series is officially set to premiere in Japan on October 11, 2026, marking the return of Dragon Ball Super to television for the first time in years. Alongside the date reveal, Toei dropped the “Super Surge” trailer, giving audiences an extended look at the reworked visuals and updated animation style driving the project.

‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ functions as an “ENHANCED” edition of the original Dragon Ball Super anime, featuring a reconstructed narrative along with newly added and redrawn animation cuts. The story picks up several years after the fight against Majin Buu, following the God of Destruction Beerus as he awakens to a prophecy warning of his death at the hands of a mysterious Saiyan god.

His search for that Saiyan eventually leads him to Earth, setting up a clash with Goku and his friends unlike anything they’ve faced before. According to details revealed alongside the trailer, the series is expected to cover the Battle of Gods, Resurrection ‘F,’ and Universe 6 sagas, giving fans a faithful, manga-aligned retelling of some of the franchise’s most beloved story arcs.

The new footage also teases the return of Frieza, hinting at an expanded role for the villain as the story develops. That addition, paired with the “Super Surge” visual overhaul, suggests this isn’t simply a shot-for-shot remake, but a series aiming to build on the source material in new ways.

The trailer marks the first reveal of the series’ opening and ending theme songs. “ONOGAMI,” performed by MEGATERA・ZERO, serves as the high-energy opening track, showcasing the intense confrontations between Goku and Beerus with the newly enhanced visual style. The ending theme, “Kan Peki No Peki,” comes from VK Blanka and focuses on quieter character moments for the wider cast of fighters.

Ahead of its Japanese premiere, ‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ will make a major stop at New York Comic Con, running October 8 through 11. The Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Special Panel is scheduled for October 8 at the Javits Center’s Empire Stage, and it will feature a world-premiere advance screening of the series’ first episode.

That panel will be hosted by Monica Rial, the English dub voice of Bulma, alongside special guests Jason Douglas, who voices Beerus, and Ian Sinclair, who voices Whis. Attendees will also receive exclusive fan merchandise, including a fan chain, face towel, and a Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World energy marker.

For now, only the Japanese broadcast and streaming date has been confirmed for October 11, though an international streaming release is expected to follow. The specific platform for that global rollout has not yet been announced, though the New York Comic Con panel suggests more details could surface soon.

‘Dragon Ball Super: Beerus’ also sets the stage for the franchise’s next chapter, ‘Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol,’ which will eventually adapt the manga’s long-awaited Moro arc. With a reworked story, new music, and a returning voice cast ready to make its Comic Con debut, anticipation for the series’ October premiere is only building.
