Batman Steals a GCPD Motorcycle in New ‘The Batman: Part II’ Set Footage From Glasgow

Superhero sequels rarely give away this much about their central conflict before a single frame reaches theaters, but the ongoing Glasgow shoot for Matt Reeves’ next Batman film has continued offering fans an unusually detailed preview of what’s coming. Night after night, new footage keeps surfacing that paints an increasingly aggressive picture of Batman’s relationship with Gotham’s police force.

Production on “The Batman: Part II” has spent recent weeks transforming Glasgow into a snow-covered version of Gotham City, with local reports describing fake ice covering the roads, GCPD cruisers staged throughout the city center and lighting cranes positioned along Wellington Street for extensive night shoots. That elaborate setup has already produced striking footage of a battle-damaged Batmobile being boxed in and fired upon by Gotham’s own police force.

The latest set video takes that escalating conflict one step further. New footage shows Batman commandeering a GCPD motorcycle, apparently making his escape after the Batmobile sustains heavy damage during the ongoing confrontation with Gotham’s police. Many fans online have pointed out that the sequence appears to echo similar imagery from Frank Miller’s seminal “Batman: Year One” comic storyline.

The same set videos also offered a brief glimpse of the sequel’s updated Batsuit, worn by stunt performer Rick English standing in for Robert Pattinson during the shoot. While the footage remains too dark to make out most details clearly, fans noted that the cowl’s ears appear slightly longer than the design used in the 2022 film, suggesting a subtle visual evolution for the character heading into the sequel.

Additional footage from the same night also captured what appears to be Scarlett Johansson’s stunt double on set alongside a child actor, fueling speculation about the nature of her still-undisclosed character. Johansson’s role in the film remains officially unconfirmed, though some fans have connected her to the character Gilda Dent, a theory that has yet to receive any confirmation from Reeves or DC Studios.

The footage of Batman stealing a police motorcycle follows directly from earlier set videos showing GCPD officers in tactical gear opening fire on the Batmobile, muzzle flashes and all, as the car sat parked in artificial snow under flashing blue and red lights. That confrontation marks a striking departure from where the first film left Batman’s relationship with Gotham’s police force.

By the end of 2022’s “The Batman,” the department had begun viewing Batman as a public symbol of hope following his heroics during the Riddler’s citywide flood, with officers like Officer Martinez showing signs of growing trust toward the vigilante. Whatever unfolds in the sequel appears to have reversed that goodwill entirely, with the entire department now actively hunting Batman through Gotham’s snow-covered streets.

Reeves has previously spoken about wanting the sequel’s action to feel grounded and dangerous rather than overly stylized, and a motorcycle chase unfolding across icy Gotham streets fits squarely within that stated vision. Wet pavement and standing puddles visible throughout the set footage suggest Gotham may still be recovering from the deadly flood that closed out the first film, adding another layer of environmental tension to the sequence.

A stolen police motorcycle also reinforces just how far the tension between Batman and law enforcement has escalated since the first film’s more hopeful ending. With production continuing in Glasgow into September, it’s likely more footage detailing this confrontation, and its eventual resolution, will keep surfacing as the shoot progresses.
