Amazon Prime’s ‘Neagley’ Release Schedule, Trailer, Plot and Cast of the ‘Reacher’ Solo Spin-Off
Frances Neagley is finally trading in her sidekick status for the spotlight. Prime Video is expanding the ‘Reacher‘ universe with ‘Neagley,’ an eight episode spinoff that puts Maria Sten’s fan favorite investigator front and center for the first time.
The series has been building buzz for months, and now fans finally know exactly when and how they can watch. With a trailer, full cast list, and plot details now confirmed, here is everything to know about the highly anticipated debut.
‘Neagley’ Release Schedule on Prime Video
All eight episodes of ‘Neagley’ are set to release on September 16, right after the Season 4 finale of ‘Reacher.’ The show will debut exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
Unlike a weekly rollout, all eight episodes of the debut season will drop at the same time, similar to how Prime Video released the ‘Bosch’ spinoff ‘Ballard’ last year. That means fans can binge the entire first case Neagley tackles on her own in one sitting instead of waiting week to week.
Reacher Season 4 kicked off with three episodes on August 12, 2026, followed by weekly episodes leading right up to the Neagley debut. The overlap is clearly intentional, designed to hand the audience straight from one show into the next without missing a beat.
A second season of ‘Neagley’ has not been confirmed yet, though it is considered likely given how the current press has consistently referred to this batch of episodes as Season 1. That framing alone suggests Amazon already has more stories in mind for the character.
‘Neagley’ Trailer and First Look
Prime Video first teased the series at the ‘Reacher’s Back and Neagley’s In’ panel at San Diego Comic Con before releasing the full trailer. The official trailer was described by Prime Video itself as high octane, matching the tone fans expect from this corner of the Reacher universe.
The trailer frames the story around Neagley, played by Maria Sten, showing Detective Hudson Riley, played by Greyston Holt, exactly how she operates as a private investigator. It is a clever way to introduce new viewers to her methods while giving longtime fans a proper showcase of her skills outside of Reacher’s orbit.
The trailer offers a bit more insight into the mystery without giving away everything, showing Neagley doubting the official account of her friend Tommy’s death and her investigation pointing toward a farm that employs recovering addicts and unhoused people. Damon Herriman’s character Lawrence Cole appears to be at the center of that increasingly troubling operation, with more deaths pushing Neagley closer to seeking vengeance.
‘Neagley’ Plot and ‘Reacher’ Connection
The official logline describes Frances Neagley as a private investigator in Chicago and former military protégé of Jack Reacher in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit, and when she learns a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, she becomes determined to find justice.
Unlike previous seasons of ‘Reacher,’ which adapted Lee Child novels including Killing Floor, Bad Luck and Trouble, and Persuader, ‘Neagley’ is venturing into completely original territory with a story that is not based on any existing book. That holds true across both Lee Child and Andrew Child’s contributions to the franchise, since none of their published novels serve as source material here.
Alan Ritchson is coming along for part of the ride as Jack Reacher, which makes this a genuine extension of the existing show rather than a disconnected spinoff built around a new character. Prime Video has deliberately positioned ‘Neagley’ right alongside ‘Reacher’ Season 4, and Entertainment Weekly has already revealed an opening sequence that reunites Sten and Ritchson in Chicago.
Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, explained that as ‘Reacher’ continues to resonate deeply with the platform’s global audience, expanding the storytelling and characters through a spinoff felt like an easy decision.
‘Neagley’ Cast Beyond Maria Sten
Alongside Maria Sten as Frances Neagley, the ensemble cast features Greyston Holt as Detective Hudson Riley, Adeline Rudolph as Renee Birdwhistle, Jasper Jones as Keno, Matthew Del Negro as Pierce Woodrow, and Damon Herriman as Lawrence Cole.
The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and Amazon MGM Studios, and it is based on the character created by Lee Child in his best selling novels. Prime Video has described the show as inviting fans of ‘Reacher’ and Child’s novels deeper into the world they already love, delivering a fresh mystery packed with unexpected twists.

There is also a literary tie in on the way, with the first ever Neagley novel titled Zero Margin arriving in March 2027 from Reacher creator Lee Child working alongside author Yasmin Angoe. That gives fans two different mediums to dig deeper into Neagley’s world once the show premieres.
With Maria Sten finally leading her own show, Damon Herriman playing what looks like a genuinely unsettling villain, and Alan Ritchson popping back up as Jack Reacher, ‘Neagley’ has all the pieces in place for a strong debut. What part of Neagley’s first solo case are you most curious to see play out, her investigation into Tommy’s death or her history with Reacher finally getting the spotlight it deserves?
