Few actors have had a year like Anne Hathaway’s. She has starred in 5 films in 2026, including ‘Mother Mary’, ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’, ‘The Odyssey’, ‘The End of Oak Street’ and ‘Verity’, and she announced her pregnancy in June. Somewhere in that blur of press junkets, the Oscar winner has also been plotting her next move, and it involves prehistoric creatures.

That interest has a clear starting point. ‘The End of Oak Street’ is a sci-fi survival thriller about a family of 4 in suburban Michigan whose neighborhood is suddenly transported into prehistoric times. The film earned $120 million in theaters against a reported $85 million budget. It is now available to rent on Amazon Prime and Apple TV.

Having battled dinosaurs on screen, Hathaway clearly isn’t done with them. Speaking on Good Morning Britain, she said she is game for a role in a ‘Jurassic World‘ film, adding that she could bring her “dino knowledge” to the franchise.

Her pitch didn’t stop there. She offered to play a brunette sidekick if Scarlett Johansson wants one, whether in ‘Jurassic World’ or any other project, and said nothing would make her happier. That open invitation to a fellow star is the kind of line that travels fast online.

The film Hathaway is eyeing is the follow-up to 2025’s ‘Jurassic World Rebirth’. The movie is the 7th installment of the franchise, set 5 years after ‘Jurassic World Dominion’ and directed by Gareth Edwards. Johansson plays covert operations expert Zora Bennett, who leads a team on a top-secret mission to a remote island.

‘Verity’ Lands With Mixed Reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, but Anne Hathaway Is the One Thing Critics Agree On

The numbers explain why Universal isn’t walking away. ‘Rebirth’ finished its theatrical run with $869 million, making it the lowest-grossing ‘Jurassic World’ film and the only one to miss the $1 billion mark, though it still had a healthy run. Deadline has reported that a sequel is in development.

Details on that sequel are still taking shape. Variety reported that Johansson, Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey are set to return, with screenwriter David Koepp expected to write the script and the studio hoping to begin production in 2027. As for Hathaway, there is no confirmation of her casting. Universal had also not officially greenlit the sequel when ScreenRant checked in earlier this year.

Johansson, for her part, knows what it means to want into this franchise. She told Vanity Fair she spent years forwarding trade reports about new ‘Jurassic Park’ movies to her agents because she was desperate to join. A co-star who campaigned that hard might be sympathetic to a wish like Hathaway’s.

For now, the ‘Jurassic World’ idea is a wish rather than a plan, and Hathaway has plenty to do in the meantime. ‘Verity’ debuts on October 2 and is the fifth and final film of her year. The overloaded release calendar has been hard to miss, and she has talked about how it all landed.

Hathaway told Extra that as long as audiences don’t get sick of her face, she was happy to let all the release dates hold. If the ‘Jurassic World’ franchise ever calls, it sounds like she has already made room.

Would you want to see Hathaway join the dinosaur chaos?
