‘Wuthering Heights’ Star Margot Robbie Gets Her Hands Deliciously Dirty in Chanel’s Jasmine Fields, and It’s Pure Temptation
Some celebrity-brand partnerships feel like a perfect match, and Margot Robbie and Chanel is one of them. She has been a house ambassador since March 2018, and over the years she has fronted fashion campaigns, fragrance launches and red carpet moments for the label. The latest Margot Robbie Chanel project takes her somewhere far from a runway: a field of blooming jasmine.
Her relationship with the house’s perfumery goes back a long way. She starred in the Gabrielle Chanel Essence campaign, which centered on 4 white flowers, and she has since become the face of the maison’s most famous scent. That makes this new chapter feel like a natural next step.

The newly circulating photos show Robbie in the heart of Chanel’s flower fields. In one, she kneels in a black top and jeans, smiling down at a heap of freshly picked white jasmine blossoms. In another, she stands among rows of flowering plants with green hills and a farmhouse behind her, lifting a single flower toward her face.
The pictures come from a new short film that Chanel shared exclusively with Who What Wear on October 16. The film features Robbie alongside Chanel perfumer Olivier Polge and is timed to the jasmine harvest, offering a rare look at the house’s precious flower fields in Grasse, France, widely known as the perfume capital of the world.

Inside the film, Robbie and Polge discuss the craftsmanship, creativity and legacy behind the fragrance. They explain that only the petals of the jasmine plant are used, and they must be picked by hand, which is a painstaking process. Polge says more than 1000 flowers go into a single 30 ml bottle.
Robbie draws a thoughtful comparison between her work and his. She tells Who What Wear that she picks a fragrance for every character she plays and finds scent to be very transportive. She also says perfumers and actresses are doing a similar thing in different ways, through emotional storytelling and a kind of invisible personal signature.

The perfume at the center of the film is Chanel N°5, which was first created in 1921 by Ernest Beaux in Grasse. It is a layered floral aldehyde composition with notes that include jasmine, neroli, may rose and sandalwood. Its blended approach was unorthodox at the time and helped redefine modern perfumery.

The fragrance has a famously glamorous list of ambassadors. Robbie succeeded Marion Cotillard in the role, who followed Nicole Kidman and Catherine Deneuve in representing the scent. Chanel announced her as the new face in September 2024, saying she had decided to create the conditions for her own accomplishments.

Her first campaign for the fragrance arrived in October 2024 with a short film titled ‘See You at 5’, directed by Luca Guadagnino. It starred Robbie and Jacob Elordi as 2 lovers whose paths keep missing, and it ends with Robbie diving into the ocean. A bespoke red suit was designed for her, nodding to the one Carole Bouquet wore in a 1986 N°5 film by Ridley Scott.
The new film is a very different kind of story. Instead of a romantic chase, it’s a quiet look at where the scent begins, and it lets Robbie play a curious visitor rather than a screen heroine. The change in setting is part of what makes it feel fresh.
The reaction online has leaned into how natural Robbie looks among the flowers. There’s something disarming about seeing a major movie star smiling over a pile of petals in jeans, and the campaign’s warm, sunlit tone is a world away from the red-carpet gloss she’s known for.
It also taps into a larger trend of brands opening the curtain on how their products are made. Audiences appreciate seeing the labor behind luxury, and Robbie’s easy charm sells it. For Chanel, the film reinforces the idea that a legendary perfume is rooted in real fields and real hands.
Robbie remains one of the busiest names in Hollywood, as an Oscar-nominated actress, a producer and a recurring face of the French house. She and Elordi were also co-stars in ‘Wuthering Heights’, so her work with Chanel has overlapped with her film career in interesting ways.
For now, fans can enjoy the dreamy images and the behind-the-scenes look at one of the world’s most famous scents.
