‘Rosebush Pruning’ Star Pamela Anderson (59) Swishes Into the Academy Museum Gala in Pistachio Chiffon, and the Internet Can’t Agree
Few people have reinvented their red carpet identity as thoroughly as Pamela Anderson. Over the past few years, she has traded the heavy glam of her Baywatch era for a barely-there, natural aesthetic that has become a signature in its own right. That evolution is the backdrop for Pamela Anderson’s Academy Museum Gala look, which arrived at one of Hollywood’s most glamorous nights.
Her 2026 has been a busy fashion year. She wore head-to-toe white Oscar de la Renta to the Golden Globes with light makeup and a sleek updo, then went bold at the Venice Film Festival in a yellow gown with balloon sleeves and a flowing train for the screening of her film ‘Place to Be.’ In Milan, she swapped her usual bare face for smoky eyes and a shimmering gold Ferragamo gown.
So when the sixth annual Academy Museum Gala rolled around on October 17 in Los Angeles, expectations were high. She arrived in a crisp white button-up blouse with a sharp collar, tucked into a slightly sheer, muted pistachio-green chiffon skirt that flowed all the way to the carpet.

The ensemble is from Carolina Herrera’s spring 2027 ready-to-wear collection, designed by creative director Wes Gordon. The high-waisted skirt features a bow at the waist for added definition and a dramatic, sweeping train. A pale green satin clutch with decorative embellishments echoed the skirt’s color.
In the carpet clip, she turns and sways so the chiffon billows out around her, glancing down with a smile while her blonde hair is styled in playful, vintage-inspired curls. The open collar on the blouse adds a flirty note to an otherwise understated look.

The pairing is a study in contrast. Menswear-style tailoring on top meets airy, romantic chiffon below, and the result feels breezy rather than fussy. Outlets described it as a clean, springtime take on gala dressing, with a lined version of the sheer skirt keeping things polished.
Her jewelry was kept simple, letting the shape of the skirt do most of the talking. It is a choice that fits the evening, which was comparatively low-key next to last year’s more daring fashion moments.

Reactions have been split. Some described the outfit as understated elegance, while at least one tabloid placed it on a worst-dressed list, calling the partially unbuttoned blouse and pastel skirt an odd combination.
That kind of divide is almost a rite of passage on a major red carpet. The look is deliberately soft and a little quirky, which tends to spark debate rather than universal applause.

This isn’t Anderson’s first Academy Museum Gala. At the fourth annual edition, she wore an understated, elegant off-the-shoulder gown and leaned into her natural beauty, posing alongside John Travolta on the carpet.
Two years on, the approach feels consistent but more playful. She has kept the quiet confidence while adding color and movement, a shift that mirrors her more experimental recent appearances.
Anderson’s relationship with makeup has become a story of its own. She first went makeup-free at Paris Fashion Week in 2023, describing it as freeing, fun and a little rebellious. She has also made clear that it was never meant to be a hard-and-fast rule, which explains the lip liner in Venice and the smoky eyes in Milan.
That flexibility is part of what keeps her red carpets interesting. Fans never quite know whether they will get a bare face, a bold eye or something in between.
The fashion moments sit alongside a career resurgence. She earned Golden Globe, SAG and Gotham Awards nominations for Gia Coppola’s ‘The Last Showgirl,’ then took a comedic turn opposite Liam Neeson in the ‘Naked Gun’ reboot. She has since appeared in ‘Place to Be,’ which screened at Venice this year.
Every new appearance now carries the weight of that comeback. Her gala look fit that narrative, trading old-school glam for something lighter and more personal.
The gala honored Charlize Theron, Colman Domingo and John Carpenter, with Taylor Swift set to perform. Among the other guests were Kristen Wiig, Laura Linney, Jessica Lange, Kate Hudson and Jessica Biel.
Against that lineup, Anderson’s pale green chiffon stood out precisely because it was so soft. In a room full of statement gowns, her look was a quieter kind of showstopper.
