When ‘The Hunting Wives’ landed on Netflix in July 2025, it quickly turned into one of the summer’s most talked-about guilty pleasures. The Texas-set soap was originally developed as a Starz drama before Netflix picked up the US streaming rights, and it went on to become the most-streamed series in the country for a week. It even earned the ultimate pop culture honor, a Saturday Night Live parody featuring Aubrey Plaza and Amy Poehler.

The numbers backed up the buzz. The series pulled in 5.2 million views in its premiere week, spent 5 weeks on Netflix’s Global Top 10 English-language TV list and peaked at No. 2 globally in its second week. Based on May Cobb’s 2021 novel, it follows Sophie (Brittany Snow), an East Coast transplant who becomes entangled with Margo (Malin Åkerman), the queen bee of an elite clique of Texas socialites.

Now the wait is nearly over. Netflix has released the first full trailer for the show’s second season, and all 8 episodes will arrive on Netflix on November 26, Thanksgiving Day.

The trailer, which runs nearly 2 minutes, doubles down on everything that made the first season a hit. The Hollywood Reporter says it shows more sex, more bloodshed and more secrets threatening to come out. It also teases a spicy reconciliation between Sophie and Margo, plus the arrival of a reality show in the style of ‘The Real Housewives’ for this conservative group of East Texas women.

A line from the preview has a character saying she wants her husband Graham to know that she can change. That moment lands alongside shots of discarded clothes on a wooden floor, a reminder that nobody in Maple Brook is particularly interested in behaving themselves.

The first season ended on a killer cliffhanger. It was revealed that Margo murdered Abby to hide her affair with Abby’s boyfriend, Brad. Sophie, realizing she had been lied to and nearly framed, reacted with fury, and the finale left the women in a bloody and unresolved place.

The official logline for the new season says Sophie and Margo begin on the outs. Old secrets and new foes soon force them back together, and Netflix teases the question of whether they are the hunters or the hunted.

Snow and Åkerman return as the leads, along with Dermot Mulroney, Jaime Ray Newman, Evan Jonigkeit and George Ferrier. Karen Rodriguez and Hunter Emery are back as series regulars in the roles of Deputy Salazar and Deputy Flynn.

The cast also gets a few big names. John Stamos plays Chase Brylan, Dale Dickey plays Zelda Moffitt and Cam Gigandet takes on the role of Gentle John Moffitt, with Kim Matula and Alex FitzAlan also joining. Production began in Charlotte, North Carolina, on November 17, 2025.

The show’s trajectory has been remarkable for a series that was almost a different network’s property. Netflix renewed it for a second season in September 2025, with Snow and Åkerman announcing the news in a cheeky video. Earlier this month, Netflix announced a third season too, even before the new episodes premiere.

Behind the scenes, Rebecca Cutter created the series and serves as showrunner, writer and executive producer. Erwin Stoff of 3 Arts Entertainment executive produces alongside Cobb, with Lionsgate Television as the studio.

With the premiere set for the holiday itself, Netflix is clearly betting that audiences will want some scandalous viewing between turkey and leftovers. After a first season that ended with body bags aplenty, expectations are high for a second round of Southern-fried secrets.
