Dermot Mulroney has shared a new update about the future of the Netflix series The Hunting Wives, suggesting that the show may already be moving ahead with a third season. The actor, who plays Jed Banks in the drama, spoke about the series during an appearance on the The Tangle With Kyle Ridley podcast, according to comments reported from the interview.

Mulroney said that early work on a possible third season is already happening, even while fans are still waiting for season 2 to arrive. He explained that the writers are already developing new material for the next chapter of the story.

“Season three is in prep,” Mulroney said during the podcast. “I think they got writers in the room, and they’re cooking up a third season already.”

He also said that filming for season 3 could begin in the fall, which suggests the show’s production team is planning ahead despite Netflix not officially confirming the renewal.

Mulroney still sounded confident about the show’s future. He told listeners that things are moving forward behind the scenes and encouraged fans to stay tuned for updates.

“So that’s great news for all the fans of The Hunting Wives. Just stay tuned,” he said.

The Hunting Wives is a drama series based on the novel by May Cobb. It follows a group of wealthy East Texas socialites who become involved in secrets, relationships, and a murder investigation that changes everything around them. The show stars Malin Akerman as Margo Banks, Brittany Snow as Sophie, and Dermot Mulroney as Jed Banks, a powerful Texas politician and oil tycoon.

The story centers on Sophie, a newcomer from Boston who gets pulled into the glamorous but dangerous world of the “Hunting Wives,” an exclusive group of women. As her relationships inside the group grow more intense, a local teen’s murder shakes their lives and exposes hidden truths.

Mulroney also gave a small hint about what is coming next for his character in the upcoming seasons. He suggested that things will become even more intense as the story continues.

“The second season is not chained to a novel, and they go off… off of the chain. So stay tuned. Well worth the binge watch,” he said.

The first season of The Hunting Wives premiered in July 2025 and quickly gained strong attention on Netflix, largely due to its mix of drama, mystery, and scandal. Season 2 is expected to premiere in September, though Netflix has not confirmed an exact release date yet.

With early development reportedly underway for season 3, fans of the series may not have seen the end of the story yet, especially as the show continues to expand beyond the original book material.
