Sophie Turner Steals the Spotlight at the Ballon d’Or in Louis Vuitton Ahead of ‘Tomb Raider’
Football’s biggest night usually belongs to the players, but the Ballon d’Or red carpet has become one of the sport’s most glamorous crossover events. Athletes, musicians and actors share the same backdrop, and the fashion often gets as much attention as the trophies.
This year’s edition added a new twist. The ceremony was held in London for the first time, marking the award’s 70th anniversary and paying tribute to its inaugural winner, England’s Stanley Matthews.
Among the stars drawing attention on the red carpet was Sophie Turner. The ‘Game of Thrones’ actress made a rare appearance at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony and quickly became one of the night’s most talked-about arrivals.

Turner attended on Monday night, October 26, at the London Palladium Theatre. The 30-year-old wore a dark outfit from Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2026 collection, a double-breasted all-black look with button detailing.
She paired it with Luna pumps and a Le Damier de Louis Vuitton necklace. Her long, wavy hair was noticeably darker than usual, in a brunette shade she has adopted for her upcoming ‘Tomb Raider’ series.
The look didn’t go unnoticed. Turner, who attended as a Louis Vuitton house ambassador, was also named among ESPN’s best dressed.

The hair is no coincidence. Turner has been filming the Prime Video adaptation of the video game franchise, in which she plays Lara Croft. Her appearance offered a different look from the adventurous action role, as she took a break from filming.
It was also a reminder of how rare her red carpet outings have become. Fans are now waiting to see how the character will look on screen, and the Ballon d’Or appearance gave them a small preview of her new aesthetic.

Her role at the ceremony went beyond posing for photographers. Alongside Newcastle legend Alan Shearer, Turner was on hand to present trophies, including the Striker of the Year awards.
She has a history with this kind of occasion. As a Louis Vuitton ambassador, she was part of the trophy presentation at the Rugby World Cup final in Paris in 2023, and she arrived there in head-to-toe Louis Vuitton too.
It’s a pairing the brand has long leaned on. Turner has been an ambassador for the house for years, and she is a regular at its runway shows.

The wider guest list was equally eclectic. Turner attended alongside rapper French Montana, Nigerian musician Burna Boy and British singer Jorja Smith. Football stars including Kylian Mbappé, Lamine Yamal and Ousmane Dembélé also turned heads on the carpet.
The ceremony itself was delayed by about half an hour because fierce London traffic held up the arrival of some key players. Once it got underway, the night belonged to Harry Kane and Alexia Putellas, who won the top honors.
Kane, of Bayern Munich, took the men’s prize, while Putellas, of the London City Lionesses and Spain, claimed the women’s. The pair posed together with the Ballon d’Or trophies after the ceremony.
Fan reaction has been enthusiastic, with plenty of social media commentary praising the all-black styling. Her appearance felt especially timely given how closely her next project is being watched.
It also shows how cross-industry events have become part of the modern awards circuit. A football ceremony can now double as a fashion moment and a promotional beat for an upcoming streaming series.
