Every blockbuster needs a villain with a strong supporting cast, and ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ is no exception. Ever since Robert Downey Jr. was unveiled as Victor von Doom, fans have been trying to work out who will stand behind him when the Marvel event arrives on December 18.

Rumors have flown for months. Reported lineups for Doom’s forces have ranged from masked Latverian enforcers and Doom variants to the Latverian Witches, an alternate Doctor Strange named Boris, Scarlet Witch, Hulk and an army of Doombots, though Marvel has confirmed none of it.

Now one name has been struck from that list. According to a fresh report, Namor will not be part of Doctor Doom’s team in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, a notable twist for a character whose comic book history is so tangled with Doom’s.

The detail surfaced during an October Q&A with members of a Discord and Patreon community run by The Cosmic Circus. A fan asked insider Alex Perez whether Namor’s absence from team merchandise and promotion meant he was joining Doom’s side. Perez answered that Namor is not part of Team Doom in the film.

Like all insider reports, it comes with a caveat. Marvel Studios hasn’t commented, so the claim remains unconfirmed.

The same session also touched on lighter details, with Perez saying Gambit and Yelena share a number of scenes that are more likely sarcastic banter than flirting.

On the page, the two characters have a long history. In the comics, Namor is friendlier with the Latverian ruler than with many other heroes, and some commentators speculated that he might follow a similar path on screen.

That theory had real fuel. Namor appears to be willing to fight the Wakandan, Fantastic Four and Avengers alliance in the early trailers, and he is a frequent ally of Doom in comic stories. The new report suggests the MCU is zigging where the comics zagged.

It also matches earlier comments from Tenoch Huerta, who plays the king of Talokan. Speaking to Collider at San Diego Comic-Con, Huerta said his Namor and Doom don’t interact directly in this part of the story, though Doom’s actions ultimately affect the entire world. Collider read that as confirmation that the two share no screen time.

The marketing offers clues. In the fourth teaser, Namor and Namora appeared alongside the Wakandans and the Fantastic Four, with Talokan presented as an organized power ready for war. Variety noted that the Talokanil, villains of ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, may join forces with Wakanda against Doom.

Tenoch Huerta is back with Mabel Cadena as Namora and Alex Livinalli as Attuma, and Namor is reported to have a revamped, more military look. How much of a fight the film gives him is unclear, and Marvel has been careful about spelling out his role.

A leaked ‘Marvel Snap’ datamine pairs Sue Storm with Namor among rumored team-ups, though that’s far from confirmed. If it’s accurate, it would put him firmly on the heroes’ side of the line.

With Namor reportedly out, attention turns back to Doom’s rumored forces. The most talked-about theory centers on a faction nicknamed the Harbingers of Doom, said to feature Captain Hydra, Maestro Hulk, King Thanos and various Doom variants.

Perez also said the group would not carry that name, adding that he doubted they’d have time to invent a team name. So the lineup may exist even if the branding doesn’t.

Rumors also place the final battle in Latveria, where the Avengers, Fantastic Four and X-Men reportedly fight the Latverian armada. The film is said to involve a multiversal collision that forces rival teams to unite against Doom, before ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ arrives on December 17, 2027.

Removing Namor from Doom’s side keeps the villain’s ranks focused on new faces and twisted versions of familiar ones, rather than an ex-antagonist from the last Wakanda movie. It also keeps Talokan’s arc, which began as a war with Wakanda, moving toward an uneasy alliance.

For now, fans have a few weeks of speculation left. Marvel has kept most details of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ under wraps, and the biggest surprises will likely stay hidden until opening weekend.
