Exclusive Collectible Tickets for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Are Coming as Marvel Courts a Key Market
Movie tickets have become collectibles in their own right. Studios and theater chains now treat them as keepsakes, with special designs, limited runs and mystery variants that turn a seat reservation into merchandise. For a film with the fan base of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, it was only a matter of time before the idea went global.
In the US, Fandango has offered an Infinity Vision bundle that includes a ticket, 2 mystery collectibles and an entry into a premiere sweepstakes. Now China is getting its own version of that excitement, in a market where Marvel has history. The film’s local title translates to ‘Avengers 5’, and Disney has treated the territory as a top priority.
A first look at those Chinese collectible tickets has now surfaced. The image shows 10 tickets fanned out in 2 rows, finished in green and black with the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ logo. The top row features character-themed art with bold green lightning effects, while the bottom row shows matching designs built around a large letter “A”, all set against a shadowy, hooded silhouette that nods to Doctor Doom.

The tickets are described as exclusive to China, but details remain thin. No release date, price or platform for the collectibles has been announced in the reports available so far. It is also unclear whether they will be physical keepsakes, digital items or tied to specific premium formats.
The design fits the campaign’s broader look. Marvel’s Doom-focused marketing has leaned heavily on green, from the character’s cloak to promotional art. The 5 different top-row designs suggest the set may be meant for collecting rather than a single souvenir.
China has been a major driver for Marvel before. ‘Avengers: Endgame’ earned about $575.8 million there in its first 11 days in 2019, and Maoyan, the country’s largest ticketing platform, projected a final total of roughly $612 million on the mainland. Disney has confirmed ‘Doomsday’ will open in Chinese theaters on December 16, 2 days before its US release.
The signs of interest are strong. On Maoyan, the film’s want-to-see count stood at 253,000 at 69 days before release, close to the 264,000 that ‘Endgame’ reached at the same point. It has also been ranked the most anticipated foreign-language film of the year on Douban, ahead of ‘Dune: Part Three’.
Premium formats could give the film a boost. China is one of only a handful of international markets where ‘Doomsday’ will screen in IMAX, and Disney’s local poster highlights IMAX, 3D and Dolby screenings. Reports also say ‘Dune: Part Three’ has been pushed to December 31 in China, though that date has not been independently verified by official sources.
Early projections vary. A first Chinese box office projection reportedly sits around $360 million, while other reports mention the film aiming for more than $300 million. Those numbers would be lower than ‘Endgame’s results, but still enormous, and some analysts have connected them to talk of a $1 billion global opening.

Marvel has been investing heavily in the region. Countdown booths have appeared at shopping centers in cities including Shanghai, with a glowing green Avengers logo above a clock ticking down to December 16. Disney also released a Chinese-specific poster showing Doctor Doom looming over a huge lineup of heroes.
The film’s momentum is not limited to China. Presales crossed $50 million in the US more than 3 months before release, with over 70% going to Infinity Vision screens, and Germany just posted a record 24-hour presale for Disney. Taken together, the collectible tickets are one more piece of a global campaign designed to make buying a ticket feel like part of the event.
Because China opens first, the market will serve as an early test of how the rest of the rollout might go. Strong numbers there would send a signal to every other territory. For fans, a keepsake ticket may be the best way to hold on to the moment
