Burger King Teases a ‘Doomsday Whopper’ in a New ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Collab
Few movie campaigns are as hungry for brand partners as ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘, and the fast-food aisle is filling up quickly. Marvel’s blockbuster arrives in theaters on December 18, and the tie-ins have been rolling out for weeks. A Burger King ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ collab was always going to be a matter of time, given the chain’s long history with superhero cinema.
That history stretches back more than 15 years. Burger King launched the Whiplash Whopper for ‘Iron Man 2′ in 2010, a pepper jack burger paired with collectible kids’ meal toys. More recently, it served a red-bunned Whopper with black sesame seeds for ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’, along with a themed sundae and restaurant makeovers.
Now the chain has started teasing its next Marvel move. A new 15-second spot shows a Burger King employee in an apron placing director’s chairs, each with a menu item printed on the back. The first chair reads ‘Doomsday Whopper’, and the next one reads ‘Magneto Crunchy Chicken Burger’.

The format is a clever nod to original Doomsday cast reveal that happened over a year ago, with the chairs standing in for a cast list of menu items. The clip ends on a chair carrying the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ logo beside the Burger King logo, with green lightning crackling in the background and a Burger King crown glowing behind it. A voiceover promises the products are coming soon to a restaurant near you.
Another item has been reported as well, with ‘Thor Thunder Nuggets’ appearing alongside the burgers. The naming leans into the film’s ensemble, pulling in Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and the returning X-Men character Magneto. It’s a smart way to spotlight the crossover nature of the story, which brings the Avengers, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four together against Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom.
The teaser doesn’t reveal ingredients, prices or exact launch dates, so the details of the burger itself remain a mystery. For now, the green glow and the Doom-style branding do most of the talking.
Burger King isn’t alone. Dunkin’ is launching an ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ menu on November 4, including themed drinks, a Doomsday Donut, an Avenging Donut and collectibles such as tumblers and color-changing mugs. Jack in the Box follows on November 5 with the Doomsday Dipping Box, which comes with 8 collectible magnets that connect like puzzle pieces.
The snack aisle is also getting in on the fun. Oreo is releasing Doctor Doom cookies, and M&M’s and Pop Secret have promotions of their own. Overseas, Kinder has launched a campaign in India, and Walkers is running a prize promotion with PepsiCo in the UK.
In other words, Doom is taking over lunch, dessert and the grocery store all at once. With the film still about 7 weeks away, that suggests marketing partners expect the movie to be a huge event.

There’s a practical logic behind all this. Fast-food tie-ins offer a cheap way to keep a film in the public eye between trailers, and collectible items give customers a reason to come back. Jack in the Box executives have described the strategy as combining worlds people obsess over with bold takes on food.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ also needs the extra visibility, since it opens against ‘Dune: Part Three’ in a clash fans have dubbed ‘Dunesday’. Every burger wrapper, donut box and cup sleeve is one more reminder of the release date. And the more playful the branding, the more likely fans are to share it online.
For Burger King, the ‘Doomsday Whopper’ name is almost too perfect. It combines one of the world’s best-known burgers with the title of one of the year’s biggest movies, all with a tagline that practically writes itself.
Whether the menu turns out to be as memorable as the teaser remains to be seen, but the early signs are promising. Burger King has plenty of practice turning movie hype into limited-time cravings, and this time it has a villain in a green cloak to help.
