Christopher Nolan’s next big film is already creating buzz, and now fans have their first glimpse of Elliot Page on set.

The photo was taken in Iceland, where part of the massive production is underway. The film, titled The Odyssey, is Nolan’s take on Homer’s epic poem and is expected to be one of his most ambitious projects yet.

The movie stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the legendary Greek hero trying to return home after the Trojan War. The journey is filled with mythological creatures and dangers, including the Cyclops and the Sirens. Nolan is writing, directing, and producing the film through his company Syncopy, with Universal Pictures handling distribution.

Elliot Page joins a huge cast that includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, and Mia Goth. Some of them have worked with Nolan before, and he’s once again bringing back longtime collaborators behind the scenes—Hoyte van Hoytema is in charge of cinematography, and Ludwig Göransson is handling the music. Both previously worked with Nolan on Oppenheimer.

Filming started in February 2025 and is happening in several countries, including Morocco, Greece, Italy, the UK, Scotland, Ireland, and Iceland. Some of the scenes were shot in actual places mentioned in the original poem. According to The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline, the movie has a budget of $250 million, making it Nolan’s most expensive film yet.

Matt Damon was officially confirmed as Odysseus earlier this year when the first photo of him in costume was released. Some people pointed out that the outfit didn’t match what would’ve been worn in ancient Greece, but fans are still excited to see how Nolan brings the story to life.

The photo of Elliot Page on the Iceland set hints that he’ll have a major role in the film. Though we don’t yet know who he’s playing, the image has sparked plenty of discussion online.

What makes this movie even more unique is that it’s being shot entirely with IMAX film cameras. That’s a first for a big studio movie, and it means the visuals will likely be on a whole new level when it hits theaters.

The Odyssey is set to be released on July 17, 2026.
