‘Alice in Borderland’ Season 3 Unveils First Teaser, Confirms Netflix Release Date
The hit Japanese thriller “Alice in Borderland” is coming back for a third season, and Netflix has just dropped its first teaser for the new episodes. Fans can expect another wild ride back into the dangerous world of the Borderland. Netflix also revealed that the season will premiere on Sept. 25.
This new season continues the story from Haro Aso’s manga and brings back the same intense, mysterious atmosphere that made the first two seasons so popular.
The show’s director, Shinsuke Sato, is back, along with lead actors Kento Yamazaki and Tao Tsuchiya, who return as Arisu and Usagi. In the story, they’re now married and trying to live a peaceful life. But even though they escaped the Borderland, it’s not done with them yet.
Netflix shared an official description of the new season, saying that Arisu and Usagi are haunted by dreams and strange visions. Then things take a turn when Usagi disappears. She’s led back to the Borderland by a man named Ryuji, who’s studying the afterlife.
Arisu, now heartbroken, is approached by Banda, a character who has stayed behind in the Borderland. Banda tells Arisu where Usagi is, and so begins Arisu’s return to the place they once fought so hard to leave.
A lot of viewers felt Season 2 gave them answers, but it looks like Season 3 is ready to ask even more questions, said one fan on social media after watching the teaser.
The cast this season includes some familiar faces, like Hayato Isomura, Ayaka Miyoshi, and Katsuya Maiguma. There are also new characters played by Koji Ohkura, Risa Sudou, Hiroyuki Ikeuchi, Tina Tamashiro, Kotaro Daigo, Hyunri, Sakura Kiryu, and Kento Kaku. Other names joining the cast include Yugo Mikawa, Joey Iwanaga, and Akana Ikeda.
Behind the scenes, the show is still being produced by Robot, with help from The Seven. Shinsuke Sato not only directed but also co-wrote the script with Yasuko Kuramitsu. Music is by Yutaka Yamada, and other returning crew include Taro Kawazu on cinematography, Iwao Saito and Shin Nakayama in production design, and Yuji Shimomura handling the action scenes. Atsushi Doi returns to lead the visual effects.
The teaser for Season 3 was officially released by Netflix and is already generating a lot of buzz online. While we don’t yet know everything about what’s coming, it’s clear that Arisu and Usagi’s journey is far from over.
