Disney recently canceled several popular shows across its networks and streaming platforms. One of the biggest surprises was the cancellation of Doctor Odyssey on ABC after just one season. The medical drama, set on a cruise ship, was a Ryan Murphy production starring Joshua Jackson. Fans loved its fresh take, but ABC decided not to move forward. Jackson shared his frustration in a recent interview: “This is a crazy and difficult business, and whatever the reasons were for them not wanting to move forward with it, they don’t actually tell us those things,” he said.

He added, “They may make that show with somebody else. I have no idea what their plans are. They haven’t let me know, but I am not holding my breath that it’s coming back.” While the show hasn’t been officially canceled, sources say the actors have been released from their contracts, and producers are still figuring out if there’s a future for it. For now, fans are left wondering if Doctor Odyssey will ever sail again.

Another show that got the chop was Primos on Disney Channel. This animated comedy, which also ran for one season, aimed to celebrate multicultural representation, focusing on the Latin community. Cosmic Book reported that despite its good intentions, the show faced backlash for using incorrect Spanish, which made it feel inauthentic to its target audience. Fans appreciated the coming-of-age story, but the criticism likely played a role in Disney’s decision to end it.

It’s a bummer for viewers who were hoping for more adventures with the Primos crew. Then there’s Marvel Studios: Assembled, the Disney+ docuseries that gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s been reported that no new episodes are in the works, signaling the end of the anthology series that started in 2021. The show covered everything from WandaVision to Phase Four and Five projects, offering insights from creatives about upcoming Marvel films and series.

The last episode dropped in November, and with Ironheart gearing up for its debut, fans were surprised to hear Assembled won’t continue. It’s a loss for Marvel fans who loved getting that insider perspective on their favorite superhero stories. These cancellations have left fans reeling, with many taking to social media to express their disappointment. While Doctor Odyssey might still have a slim chance of returning in some form, Primos and Marvel Studios: Assembled seem to be done for good.

Disney’s decisions reflect the tough choices in the entertainment world, where even promising shows can get cut for various reasons. For now, fans will have to say goodbye to these series and keep an eye out for what Disney brings next.
