The wait is finally over, Zendaya is officially back in the Marvel universe. Fans got their first look at her and Tom Holland on the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in London, thanks to a behind-the-scenes photos shared by justbuzz.exe on TikTok.

The film is the fourth in the MCU’s Spider-Man series, following No Way Home from 2021. It’s part of Marvel’s Phase Six and is currently set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026. Zendaya’s return had been uncertain for a while, especially after she started working with Holland on The Odyssey.

There were even reports that her role might be cut down a lot because of scheduling conflicts. Jeff Sneider shared in December that her part had been “severely reduced” since she was also committed to filming Euphoria season 3 and Dune: Part Three around the same time.

Despite all the buzz and back-and-forth, Zendaya was confirmed to return in June 2025, along with Jacob Batalon. It’s still not totally clear how much screen time she’ll get this time around, but her presence is enough to get fans excited.

Filming officially started on August 3, 2025, in Glasgow, Scotland, under the working title Blue Oasis. According to Total Film, parts of the city are being transformed to look like New York, including locations like Merchant City, George Square, and Trongate.

Tom Holland shared how happy he was to be back shooting real street scenes again, something that reminded him of working on Homecoming. He said it felt more natural than filming entirely on soundstages like they did for No Way Home, which was affected by the pandemic.

Zendaya’s schedule has clearly been packed. There was a lot of talk last year about whether she’d even appear in the film at all. Sneider had also reported that Sony might push the movie’s release to 2027 so it wouldn’t compete with Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, which was also in the works for 2026.

Besides Zendaya and Holland, the film stars Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, and Michael Mando. Destin Daniel Cretton is directing, with a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who also wrote the last Spider-Man movies. Brett Pawlak is behind the camera again, bringing his visual style from Cretton’s earlier films.

Even though Zendaya’s role might not be as big this time, seeing her back in action with Tom Holland has definitely reignited interest in the film. Her return, no matter how long she’s on screen, feels like a big deal for longtime fans of the Spider-Man series.
