Rumor Suggests One Unexpected MCU Hero Is the Cause of Incursions in the MCU
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduced the idea of Incursions, which are likely to play a big role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Incursions happen when traveling too much across the Multiverse causes universes to collapse and sometimes be completely destroyed. Fans have been waiting to see how this will lead to Secret Wars and possibly a reboot of the MCU.
Before, many thought Kang the Conqueror was behind the Incursions, but since his storyline was scrapped, Marvel is heading into new territory. Different characters in the MCU have already caused Incursions.
Back in 2018, Thanos started collecting the Infinity Stones, and Doctor Strange used the Darkhold to search the Multiverse through dreamwalking to find a way to stop him. This caused an Incursion that destroyed another universe and killed everyone there.
In another timeline, Doctor Strange used dreamwalking to move across universes to fight alternate versions of himself. This also caused an Incursion that wiped out the universe he came from, leaving him as the only survivor. Later, in 2024, Doctor Strange met Clea, who told him he had caused an Incursion and insisted they needed to fix it.
After Janet van Dyne was captured, Kang explained how his Variants’ Multiversal War caused many Incursions and threatened the Multiverse. However, that path is no longer being followed in the MCU.
Recently, fans have been speculating who might cause the Incursion that could collide the MCU with other realities, including Fox’s X-Men universe. Some guesses were Doctor Strange, Spider-Man, Loki, or America Chavez.
But according to MyTimeToShineHello, it might actually be Steve Rogers, and Doctor Doom wants him dead. MyTimeToShineHello isn’t always reliable, so take it with a grain of salt. Still, the idea makes sense if you think about the in-universe rules of Incursions.

Steve Rogers spent decades living in the past in an alternate reality with Peggy Carter after returning the Infinity Stones, which could count as “prolonged Multiversal travel.” He eventually came back to the present and gave the shield to Sam Wilson. How this affects the Multiverse isn’t clear, but it could be dangerous.
Chris Evans is confirmed to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, though his role hasn’t been officially revealed. Rumors say he might play a variant of Captain America using the Nomad identity. Nomad first appeared in the comics in 1974 when Steve Rogers abandoned the Captain America title and became a hero with no allegiance to any nation.
A version of Nomad was hinted at in Avengers: Infinity War when Steve was on the run with Sam and Natasha. Co-director Joe Russo explained that while Rogers wasn’t officially Nomad, he had “the spirit of that character.”
How this variant will tie into the Multiverse story in Avengers: Doomsday is still unknown, but it could be a major factor in the coming chaos.
Fans will have to wait and see if Steve Rogers really is the cause of a massive Incursion, and how his Nomad variant might play a part in the future of the MCU.
