[Video] ‘Superman’ Cast and Crew Talk Launch of the New DCU in Exclusive Featurette
Warner Bros. has announced that James Gunn’s new Superman movie will be available to rent or buy digitally starting August 15. Fans can also grab the 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD versions when they hit shelves on September 23. This home release is packed with special features that are sure to excite Superman fans and movie buffs alike.
The bonus content includes a director’s commentary by James Gunn, which gives viewers a deeper look into the making of the film straight from the director himself. Along with this, there are deleted scenes that didn’t make the final cut, a gag reel filled with funny moments from the set, and nine featurettes diving into different parts of the movie’s world and characters and the highlight is the hour-long documentary called Adventures in Making Superman.
One of the standout extras is a behind-the-scenes featurette called A New Era: DC Takes Off. Entertainment Weekly has shared an exclusive clip from it, offering fans a peek at how Superman kicks off a brand-new chapter for the DC Universe across movies and television.

The clip features Gunn alongside DC Studios co-head Peter Safran, as well as cast members David Corenswet (Clark Kent/Superman), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner/Green Lantern), and Isabela Merced (Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl). They talk about the big vision for the DCU and what it means to be part of its first step.
Corenswet says, “I think we’re making some really cool stuff that’s gonna be worth waiting for and worth getting hyped about. This is a new Superman, a new phase.”
Brosnahan adds, “The bar is high, pressure’s on, but this team is ready to rise to the challenge.”
Fillion shares his excitement too, saying, “We’re at the forefront, on the front lines.”
Superman will first be available on digital retail platforms this Friday, Aug. 15, including on Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, and Fandango at Home, followed by a release on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD starting Sep. 23.
