James Gunn’s brand-new Superman movie, which kicked off the new DC Universe, is almost here for fans to own at home. According to Warner Bros., the film will be available to rent or buy digitally on August 15, with 4K, Blu-ray, and DVD versions arriving on September 23.

The movie stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent, better known as Superman, with Rachel Brosnahan playing Lois Lane. Nicholas Hoult takes on the role of Lex Luthor, the brilliant but ruthless billionaire who sees Superman as a threat.

Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced also join the cast. Written and directed by James Gunn, the story follows Superman as he tries to do the right thing during an international crisis. But his actions spark a backlash, and he’s forced to win back the trust of the public with the help of Lois and other heroes.

One of the most interesting parts of the film is the deep conflict between Superman and Lex Luthor. Lex’s hatred isn’t just about power, it’s about identity. To Lex, Superman will never be one of us. He’s an alien, and in Lex’s mind, that means he can’t truly understand or belong to humanity. This prejudice fuels everything Lex does. No matter how many times Superman saves the world, Lex refuses to believe he’s acting out of genuine care for people – because he would never do it himself.

Ahead of the digital release, DC Studios has shared one of the most talked-about scenes online—Superman’s big speech to Lex. It happens when the two finally face each other after all the damage and manipulation caused by Lex’s schemes. Superman, calm but firm, tries to make Lex understand what truly makes someone human.

That is where you’ve always been wrong about me, Lex. I’m as human as anyone. I love, I get scared, I wake up every morning and, despite not knowing what to do, I put one foot in front of the other and I try to make the best choices that I can. I screw up all the time, but that is being a human and that’s my greatest strength. And someday, I hope, for the sake of the world, you understand that it’s yours too.

The home release of Superman will also be packed with extras. Warner Bros. says fans can expect deleted scenes, a gag reel, nine behind-the-scenes featurettes, and a full-length director’s commentary from James Gunn. There’s even a one-hour documentary called Adventures in Making Superman, which gives a close look at how the film was brought to life. Other bonus videos dive into Superman’s cultural importance in Icons Forever: Superman’s Enduring Legacy and take a closer look at Lex Luthor in The Mind of a Master Villain.

With this speech now online, fans are already calling it one of the best in any superhero movie, and maybe one of the most powerful in fiction.
