Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has spoken about the final moments of Euphoria Season 3 and what led to the death of his character, Alamo Brown. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he explained the choices behind Alamo’s actions and the meaning of his final stand in the series.

In the Season 3 finale, Alamo dies after a violent chain of events that ends in a shootout at a strip club. Before that moment, he faces pressure from many sides, including law enforcement, rival criminal groups, and people inside his own organization. By the end, he is completely surrounded and has no way out.

The actor said Alamo always saw life like a game. He believed every move had to be controlled, and every person around him was part of a larger strategy. That mindset shaped how he treated Rue and everyone else in his world.

He described Alamo as someone who enjoyed power and control, even when things were falling apart around him.

“He enjoys the chess game of death,” Akinnuoye-Agbaje said.

One of the biggest storylines in the finale is Alamo’s connection to Rue, played by Zendaya. At first, he sees her as useful. She is smart, quick, and willing to take risks. But over time, he begins to see her as a threat after learning she may be working with the DEA.

Instead of killing her immediately, Alamo chooses to let her die slowly after giving her pills laced with fentanyl. According to the actor, this choice was not random. It was part of his character’s need to control every situation until the very end.

He explained that Alamo understood addiction and knew exactly how to use it against her.

“He knows she is weak enough to fall for the temptation — when he puts the pills in front of her, she won’t be able to resist,” he said.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje also said there was a strange emotional layer to Alamo’s behavior. Even though he was dangerous and violent, he still saw Rue in a way that reminded him of something personal, almost like a broken family bond.

As the episode continues, Alamo’s world collapses. One by one, people around him turn against him. His own men betray him, and his control over his empire starts to fall apart. This leads to the final confrontation at the strip club, where he faces Ali, played by Colman Domingo.

The duel ends when Alamo is betrayed by his right-hand man, Bishop, who removes the bullets from his gun. This leaves Alamo defenseless during the final standoff. Ali then kills him in front of everyone.

Akinnuoye-Agbaje said this betrayal is what truly ends Alamo, even before the bullets hit him.

“To be honest, he was dead before Ali’s bullet hit him, because that level of betrayal killed him right there,” he said.

He also explained Bishop’s decision as a power move. In his view, people close to Alamo saw an opportunity to take control when they realized his empire was collapsing.

The actor also reflected on the meaning behind Alamo’s name. It references the historical Battle of the Alamo, which ended in defeat. He said this connection was intentional and shaped how he played the final scenes.

The information comes from Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje’s interview with Entertainment Weekly, where he broke down the Season 3 finale and Alamo’s final moments in Euphoria. For him, the story was always about control, betrayal, and the cost of power when everything finally falls apart.
