Adria Arjona Just Got Her First Full Reveal in Michael B. Jordan’s ‘The Thomas Crown Affair,’ and It’s Worth the Wait

Heist thrillers have a long history of surviving reinvention, but few classics carry quite as much cultural weight as the story of a bored billionaire and the investigator determined to catch him. That legacy is exactly what Michael B. Jordan is stepping into as he prepares to bring one of Hollywood’s most stylish crime romances back to the big screen.

Jordan’s take on ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ has been steadily building buzz since production first kicked off in London, following in the footsteps of both the 1968 Steve McQueen original and the 1999 Pierce Brosnan remake. As director and star, Jordan is putting his own spin on the character of Thomas Crown, a role he’s described as far more layered than a simple retread of the source material.

Now fans are finally getting their first proper look at Adria Arjona, who stars opposite Jordan as the sharp insurance investigator drawn into a high-stakes game of cat and mouse with him. New images show Arjona across a range of moods and settings, from tense investigative moments to glamorous, dimly lit close-ups that hint at the film’s slick, romantic thriller tone.

Arjona stepped into the role after Taylor Russell exited the project amid reported creative differences during the early stages of filming. Her casting quickly rounded out an already stacked ensemble that includes Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone, Danai Gurira, and Pilou Asbæk, giving the remake a genuinely formidable supporting cast to work alongside its two leads.

According to the film’s official plot description, Thomas Crown pulls off an audacious painting theft by using a separate heist nearby as a tactical distraction for law enforcement, setting the stage for Arjona’s investigator to begin closing in on him. That premise stays true to the bones of the original story while giving Jordan plenty of room to modernize the character’s motivations and style.

Jordan has been careful to frame this version as something more ambitious than a straightforward remake. Speaking at CinemaCon, he told the crowd his film isn’t just another retelling of the classic story, signaling a more reimagined take on the material than audiences might initially expect.

That reimagining reportedly extends to Crown’s motivations themselves, with some reporting suggesting Jordan’s version leans into a more pointed, purposeful angle for the character’s thefts rather than simply portraying a wealthy man stealing for sport. It’s a shift that echoes the kind of morally complex antihero energy Jordan has explored in past roles.

The film’s first teaser poster, released through AMC, leaned into that stylish, dangerous tone with the tagline “revenge is a work of art,” giving fans an early sense of the mood Jordan is building toward. A full teaser trailer is expected to follow shortly after these newest images made their way online.

Behind the camera, Jordan has assembled a team to match the film’s ambitions, including cinematographer Bradford Young and composer Jon Batiste, who performed a piano rendition of “The Windmills of Your Mind” during the project’s CinemaCon presentation. That song, an Academy Award winner from the original 1968 film, suggests Jordan is aiming to honor the franchise’s legacy even while pushing it in a new direction.

With ‘The Thomas Crown Affair’ set to hit theaters and IMAX screens on March 5, 2027, these latest images of Arjona only add to the growing anticipation surrounding Jordan’s directorial vision.
