‘Ahsoka’ Fans Receive Concerning Update About Season 2 Plans
Ahsoka season 2 is officially on the way, but fans will have to wait longer than expected to see it. The new season is now scheduled to arrive on Disney+ in early 2027, according to an announcement made by Rosario Dawson during Disney’s upfront presentation. The update confirms a delay from its earlier expected release window in 2026.
Dawson, who plays the title role of Ahsoka Tano, shared a short message about what viewers can expect when the show returns. She said, “This season, the battles are bigger and the stakes are higher.” Her comments were reported during Disney’s presentation and later covered by entertainment media outlets.
The first season of Ahsoka premiered in the summer of 2023 and introduced viewers to a story set in the post-Return of the Jedi era of the Star Wars timeline. It followed Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren as they ended up stranded in another galaxy, while Grand Admiral Thrawn returned as a major threat to the New Republic.
At the end of season 1, Thrawn managed to escape using a hyperspace jump, while Ahsoka and Sabine were left behind on a distant world. That ending set up the main conflict for the next season, which continues the fight between the New Republic and the remaining forces of the Empire.
According to information shared by Disney and series creator Dave Filoni, season 2 will continue building that conflict on a larger scale. Filoni appeared in a sneak peek shown during the presentation, where he and the cast discussed the upcoming episodes. Based on those remarks, the new season will include bigger battles and more direct confrontations between key characters.

The upcoming season will also bring back several major Star Wars characters. Hayden Christensen returns as Anakin Skywalker, continuing his storyline with Ahsoka. Lars Mikkelsen is back as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi returns as Ezra Bridger. Rory McCann will also appear as Baylan Skoll, replacing Ray Stevenson following his death in 2023.
The series is produced by Lucasfilm and follows the events of The Mandalorian timeline. It is part of the larger Star Wars TV universe created under Dave Filoni’s leadership. Filming for season 2 took place in the United Kingdom between April and October 2025, as reported in production updates.
The new season will consist of eight episodes, continuing the story across multiple character arcs. It will focus on Ahsoka and Sabine trying to find a way back home while also dealing with the growing threat of Thrawn’s plans in another galaxy.
Although season 2 was originally expected to arrive in 2026, the release has now been pushed to early 2027. That means fans will have to wait longer than planned before seeing the next chapter of the story.
Despite the delay, Disney and Lucasfilm are promising a bigger and more intense season when it finally arrives, with higher stakes and more action across the galaxy.
