Mika Abdalla is getting attention for her role as Allie Hayes in Prime Video’s series Off Campus, but her career path has also included a very different kind of show.

Abdalla previously appeared in the medical drama The Pitt, where she played a very different character in a high-stakes hospital storyline.

In The Pitt Season 1, Abdalla had a recurring role as Jenna Burke, an 18-year-old college student who is brought into the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center after an overdose. Her storyline appears across several episodes as she is treated by hospital staff and slowly begins her recovery.

Her character is also involved in emotional and difficult scenes connected to a larger storyline about drug use and its consequences. At one point, she is confronted by a parent figure connected to another student involved in the case, which adds tension to her recovery journey. By the end of her arc, Jenna reconciles with the family involved and is discharged from the hospital in Episode 8.

While The Pitt focused on intense medical drama, Abdalla’s current role in Off Campus is very different in tone. The Prime Video series is a romantic drama centered around college life and hockey players, where she plays Allie Hayes. The shift between the two roles has been noticeable for fans who have followed her work.

There is also an interesting connection between the two shows. Jalen Thomas Brooks, who plays hockey player John Tucker in Off Campus, also appears in The Pitt as nurse Mateo Diaz. His character is one of the first medical staff members Jenna encounters when she arrives at the hospital.

Despite working on the same project in the past, Abdalla and Brooks did not form a close relationship during filming of The Pitt. Abdalla spoke about this in an interview with Bustle, explaining that they barely interacted on set.

She said, “I don’t think I talked to Jalen at all when we were filming ‘The Pitt.’ I was very much just in my trailer, like, trying to stay out of the way.” She also added that she later learned he noticed her being very quiet during filming, saying it made her feel a bit insecure at the time.

The two actors eventually reconnected during chemistry reads for Off Campus. Abdalla described the moment as warm and surprising after their earlier distance on The Pitt set. She said, “I walked in, and he was so sweet and came right up to me and was like, ‘Oh my god, hi, it’s so good to see you!’”

Brooks also shared that he was happy to see her again, saying it felt good to be reunited after their previous project together.

Now, Abdalla is stepping into a bigger role in Off Campus Season 2. The upcoming season will focus more on her character Allie’s romantic storyline with hockey player Dean Di Laurentis, played by Stephen Kalyn. Her role is expected to expand as the series continues to explore relationships and personal drama on and off the ice.

Both Off Campus and The Pitt are part of what has helped bring attention to Abdalla’s rising career. According to production information and interviews, her work across both shows highlights her ability to move between emotional drama and romantic storytelling in very different settings.
