Andrew Garfield Wants a Weird and Wonderful Spider-Man Return: ‘I’d Want Something Unique and Offbeat’

Since Sony began adapting Spider-Man from the comics, three actors have taken on the role in live-action: Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland. Maguire and Holland both starred in three films, but Garfield only appeared in two, which is surprising given his popularity with fans.

While Garfield’s two films hinted at a brighter future for his character, many felt his story was left incomplete. Although a direct sequel wasn’t necessary, fans believe Garfield had more to offer, and his cameo in the MCU only reinforced that desire, sparking widespread calls for his return in another film.

The actor himself stated on several occasions that he would love to return to the role. Recently, the actor stated he wants to be Spider-Man again, but only if it’s in a different and unusual way.

He doesn’t want to do the same kind of Spider-Man story as before. Instead, he wants it to be something strange, unique, and surprising, something that people wouldn’t expect.

I would love to play the character again in some capacity, but I think it would have to be very weird. I think I would like to do something very strange, I would want to do something very unique, and offbeat and surprising.

Nothing has been confirmed so far in an official capacity, but rumors hint that both Garfield’s and Maguire’s Spider-Man might return for the upcoming movies. Given the multiversal state of the MCU and all possible variants that could appear, who knows? Maybe Garfield gets another cameo.
