Anne Hathaway’s ‘The Odyssey’ Press Tour Just Became One Long Maternity Fashion Victory Lap
Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s epic has been rolling out one of the busiest promotional campaigns of the summer, and the cast has barely had a day off. Between New York press stops, a London photocall, and a full-blown premiere, the ensemble behind ‘The Odyssey‘ has crossed two continents in a matter of days.
Anne Hathaway has been front and center for nearly every stop on that tour, playing Penelope, the Queen of Ithaca who holds her kingdom together while Matt Damon’s Odysseus makes his long journey home. Her scenes alongside Tom Holland, who plays her and Odysseus’ son Telemachus, sit at the emotional core of the film.
What has made this particular press run stand out, though, has nothing to do with the movie itself. Hathaway announced roughly two weeks before the London premiere that she is expecting her third child, and the news turned the entire tour into an unofficial celebration of her growing family.
The latest stop in that celebration came at the Paris photocall for the film, held at Trocadero Square with the Eiffel Tower serving as a dramatic backdrop while the sun set over the city. Hathaway joined co-stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron for the event, wearing a custom navy Prada gown finished with delicate gold embellishment and Bvlgari jewelry.
The look continued a pattern that has defined nearly every appearance since her pregnancy announcement. In New York, she cycled through a red ruffled jumpsuit and a gold velvet maxi dress, all styled by longtime collaborator Erin Walsh, before moving on to a flowing white Blumarine gown for the London photocall.
The London premiere itself brought the biggest moment of the tour so far, with Hathaway stepping out in a strapless custom blue Dior Haute Couture gown, one hand resting gently on her bump as she posed alongside the rest of the cast. Photographers caught her laughing throughout the night, and the look quickly became one of the most talked-about fashion moments of the entire premiere.

Hathaway shared the pregnancy news itself in a short Instagram video rather than a traditional statement, walking into frame in a flowing white gown set to Barbara Lewis’ classic song ‘Baby, I’m Yours’ before revealing her bump with a simple caption referencing the track. She and her husband, Adam Shulman, have been married since 2012 and are already parents to two sons.
The timing has made for an unusually personal press cycle, with fans following Hathaway’s maternity style almost as closely as the film’s marketing beats. It has also added an extra layer of anticipation heading into the movie’s release, as audiences prepare to see her performance as Penelope just as she prepares to welcome her third child.
‘The Odyssey’ opens in theaters on July 17, closing out a press tour that has doubled as one of the more memorable maternity fashion runs in recent memory. Whether the film matches the buzz generated by its cast’s red carpet appearances remains to be seen once it actually reaches audiences.
