Warner Bros. Discovery is quietly building out its DC Studios animation slate, and according to The Wrap, a new project tied to the “Super family” is now in development at Swaybox Studios. This comes alongside the studio’s work on Dynamic Duo, another ambitious DC project that was previewed at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

The report does not confirm full details, but it strongly hints that this new project will center on characters connected to Superman’s wider family. That could mean figures like Supergirl, Superboy, or other Kryptonian-related characters, though nothing official has been announced yet. For now, it is being described only as a “Super family” project in early development.

Swaybox Studios, based in New Orleans, is already working closely with Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, DC Studios, and Matt Reeves’ production company 6th & Idaho on Dynamic Duo. That film is pushing a very unusual visual style that blends computer animation, physical models, and puppetry. According to early descriptions shown at Annecy, the result is a hybrid style that feels different from traditional animation or motion capture.

The team behind Dynamic Duo has been focusing on creating a Gotham City that feels more detailed and physical than anything seen before in animation. The characters themselves are built with a mix of real-world movement and digital enhancement, creating a look that is intentionally new and slightly experimental.

While Dynamic Duo focuses on two versions of Robin, Dick Grayson and Jason Todd, the newly reported “Super family” project suggests DC Studios is expanding this creative approach beyond Gotham and into the Superman side of its universe.

According to The Wrap, Warner Bros. is already enthusiastic about Swaybox’s work and is developing additional ideas with the studio even before Dynamic Duo reaches theaters in 2028. The early expansion suggests confidence in the animation style and in DC’s broader strategy of building connected but visually distinct animated projects.

Dynamic Duo itself tells the story of Dick Grayson and Jason Todd during their early years. Both are teenagers navigating Gotham City while being shaped by two very different influences. Grayson is guided by Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman, while Jason Todd is drawn toward a darker path connected to the Red Hood. The story explores how each character develops under these opposing forces.

One of the key ideas behind the film is identity. In early footage described by attendees, Jason Todd sees something different in the Red Hood mask compared to Dick Grayson, who interprets it in another way entirely. That contrast is meant to reflect their emotional paths as they grow into their roles in Gotham.

Director Arthur Mintz, who also co-founded Swaybox Studios, has described the project as a major step forward in blending animation techniques. He has said the goal is to make the visuals feel both familiar and completely new at the same time.

The Wrap notes that Warner Bros. is actively building more projects with this same creative team, suggesting that Dynamic Duo is only the beginning. The rumored “Super family” project could extend this experimental style into another corner of the DC Universe, potentially focusing on Kryptonian mythology and legacy.

For now, details remain limited, but the direction is clear. DC Studios is exploring new ways to tell superhero stories through animation, and Swaybox Studios is becoming a key part of that plan.
