Out of all the movies on Marvel Studios’ release schedule, the ‘Avengers’ franchise is undoubtedly the most exciting one. We know that two new ‘Avengers’ movies are in development, and when it comes to the fifth installment in the franchise, we’ve been through a lot in the last few months.

Majors’ was fired back in December after being found guilty of third-degree assault against his former girlfriend, and since then, the direction of the movie is confusing, to say the least. The movie internally changed its name from ‘Kang Dynasty’ to ‘Avenger 5,’ and we can’t even be sure that Kang is the main villain still.

Now Jeff Sneider has a round of news, or rather rumors, for us. In his latest appearance on the Hot Mic, Sneider claimed that the studio is looking for a new director that never directed a Marvel movie before, meaning they are open to exploring just about every possibility. Sneider also claims that his sources tell him that the movie is ready to start filming next year.

The movie so far, has gone through quite the development hell. On June 13, 2023, it was announced that a film originally set for release on an unspecified date had been postponed to May 1, 2026. Subsequently, on November 15, 2023, Deadline reported that Destin Daniel Cretton, the initially appointed director, had chosen to step down from the project, deciding to focus on directing ‘Shang-Chi 2’ instead. In addition, on November 27, 2023, it was reported that Michael Waldron had taken over the role of the scriptwriter, replacing Jeff Loveness.

Back at that time, it was expected that the upcoming ‘Avengers’ would begin filming in late 2024 in the UK, with everything that transpired with Majors, the filming was once again delayed. There are also rumors that the studio doesn’t exactly know in which direction to move that Multiversal aspect of the whole phase.
