The majority of the project planned for the DCEU cinematic universe was canceled and the actors were dismissed. However, one franchise that was developing along DCEU even though it wasn’t technically a part of it survived the onslaught, Mat Reeves’ Batman Universe, which so far has several projects in development.

‘The Batman’ was intended to be only the first in a trilogy of movies and soon after the release ‘Tha Batman – Part II’ was announced. In December 2021, Robert Pattinson and Matt Reeves discussed ideas for future Batman films, including introducing Robin and featuring various villains like the Court of Owls. In April 2022, Warner Bros. announced the development of the next Batman film with Matt Reeves directing and Robert Pattinson starring.

Not much was heard in the following period, except that the movie was scheduled to be released in October 2025. Over a week ago, news came that the movie has been delayed for a year, now aiming for an October 2, 2026 release date. The reasons for the delay are currently unknown, but we can assume that the strike played a role in it, with some reports even stating that Gunn doesn’t want competition for his ‘Brave and the Bold’ upcoming Batman DCU project.

Now that the dust has settled over the delay, reports surfaced that Boyd Holbrook has been cast in the role of Harvey Dent according to Breaking Film. Harvey Dent also known as Two-Face is one of the most notable antagonists in Batman’s Rogue Gallery and has appeared in several live-action adaptations so far, being portrayed by the likes of Billy Dee Williams, Tommy Lee Jones, and Aaron Eckhart.

The rest of the cast remains largely unknown, save for the few names that were confirmed to reprise their roles when the sequel was first announced.

Boyd Holbrook began his career as a model, working with prestigious names like Dior, Gucci, and Calvin Klein. He also explored photography and sculpting, showcasing his talents in various exhibitions. Transitioning into acting, Holbrook studied at renowned studios and made appearances in music videos and films like ‘Gone Girl’ and ‘Logan.’ His notable roles include portraying DEA agent Steve Murphy in ‘Narcos.’ Recently, he joined the cast of ‘The Sandman’ adaptation and secured a role in ‘Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.’
