Paramount has released the first trailer for Heart of the Beast, a new survival thriller directed by David Ayer and led by Brad Pitt. The movie also stars J.K. Simmons and Anna Lambe.

The story follows James Belmont, a former Army Special Forces soldier played by Pitt, who finds himself in a desperate situation after a plane crash in the remote Alaskan wilderness. Stranded far from help, Belmont must rely on his training and instincts to stay alive. He is not alone, however. His loyal companion, a retired combat dog named Odin, is by his side as they face the harsh conditions together.

According to Paramount’s official synopsis, “After a harrowing plane crash, Special Forces officer James Belmont (Brad Pitt) and his combat dog, Odin, find themselves stranded deep in the Alaskan wilderness. Together, they are forced into a brutal fight for survival against the elements. From acclaimed filmmaker David Ayer, Heart of the Beast is an intense adventure thriller that explores the unbreakable bond between a man and his best friend as they face their greatest battle yet.”

The newly released trailer gives viewers a first look at the challenges Belmont and Odin will face. From dangerous weather conditions to the struggle of finding food and shelter, the film focuses on survival in one of the most unforgiving environments on Earth. At the same time, the story highlights the strong connection between the soldier and his dog as they depend on each other to make it through.

Heart of the Beast was written by Cameron Alexander. The production team includes Brad Pitt, David Ayer, Olivia Hamilton, and Marty Bowen as producers. Several well-known names are attached to the project as executive producers, including Damien Chazelle, Scott Lumpkin, Chris Long, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, Andrew Lary, Sophie Cassidy, Zack Conroy, and Alexander himself.

The film marks a reunion between Pitt and Ayer more than a decade after they worked together on Fury, the 2014 World War II drama. Their previous collaboration was praised by audiences and critics, making this new project one that many fans will be eager to see.

Heart of the Beast arrives during a busy period for Pitt, who recently appeared in F1, the racing drama that earned awards attention. With this new survival thriller, the actor moves into a very different setting, trading race tracks for the rugged wilderness of Alaska.

Paramount previously showed footage from the movie during CinemaCon, giving theater owners and industry insiders an early preview of what to expect. Now, with the first trailer officially available, audiences are getting their first real look at the adventure.

Heart of the Beast is scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 25.
