‘Cape Fear’ Trailer Drops for New Apple Series Produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg
Apple has released the official trailer for its upcoming thriller series Cape Fear, a modern reimagining of a well-known psychological story. The show will debut on June 5, on Apple TV.
The project is backed by major names in Hollywood, with Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg serving as executive producers. The series is inspired by earlier film versions of Cape Fear and the novel The Executioners by John D. MacDonald.
The story centers on a family thrown into danger after a convicted criminal is released from prison. Max Cady, played by Javier Bardem, targets the lawyers who helped put him behind bars. He believes they hid key evidence in his case and returns seeking revenge.
The legal couple at the center of the story are played by Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson. Their characters, Anna and Tom Bowden, find their lives disrupted when Cady reappears and begins to threaten their family.
The cast also includes CCH Pounder, along with supporting roles from Lily Collias, Joe Anders, Malia Pyles, Jamie Hector, Ron Perlman, Ted Levine, and others.
The series is directed by Morten Tyldum, with writing led by Nick Antosca, who also adapted the story for television.
According to production details, filming took place in Atlanta between April and October 2025. The series is planned as a 10-episode limited run. The first two episodes will be released together, followed by weekly releases until the end of July 2026.
Early descriptions of the trailer suggest a tense, slow-building thriller with a strong focus on psychological pressure and revenge. The tone leans heavily into suspense and fear, as the conflict between Cady and the Bowden family escalates.
Overall, Cape Fear is being positioned as a major thriller event for Apple’s streaming platform, supported by a high-profile cast and experienced creative team.
This series has strong potential because of the combination of well-known actors and experienced filmmakers. The revenge-driven story also fits a format that often works well in limited series. If the writing and pacing are handled well, it could become one of Apple’s standout thrillers. What do you think about this new Cape Fear series and its cast? Share your thoughts in the comments.
