Ritter’s last appearance as Jessica Jones was in 2019, during the third and final season of her Netflix show. Since then, fans have missed her dark and gritty hero. But now, she’s officially back and filming for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, which is set to stream on Disney+ in 2026.

She officially confirmed her return at Disney’s Upfront 2025 presentation. Ritter was a big part of the original Defenders Saga, along with Cox’s Daredevil and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, who have also returned to the MCU.

The plot for Jessica’s return hasn’t been revealed yet, but it will be part of a larger story. Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 continues Daredevil’s journey after his return in 2025. He will be on the run from Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio), who is using new anti-hero laws and putting the city under martial law.

Marvel Studios is still filming the new season, and fans can look forward to seeing Jessica Jones team up with Daredevil once again. The wait is almost over, and the MCU is about to get even more thrilling.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said in August 2024 that the first season of Daredevil: Born Again would have nine episodes. He also confirmed that a second season was already being planned. The original plan was for one big 18-episode season, but it was later split into two shorter seasons with nine episodes each.

In February 2025, Dario Scardapane, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead were confirmed to return for season two. Benson and Moorhead are directing several episodes, including the first two. Scardapane later said the new season will actually have just eight episodes. He also said the show’s production is running more smoothly this time.

In April 2025, directors Solvan Naim and Iain B. MacDonald joined the project. Then in May, Vincent D’Onofrio revealed that Angela Barnes would also direct some episodes. Barnes had also worked on another Marvel series, Ironheart.

The executive producers for the season are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Sana Amanat, Dario Scardapane, Justin Benson, and Aaron Moorhead. The show is made under Marvel Studios’ “Marvel Television” label.

Filming for season two began on February 28, 2025. The directors include Benson and Moorhead, Naim, MacDonald, and Barnes. The working title used on set is Out the Kitchen 2. Hillary Fyfe Spera is back as the cinematographer, along with Jeffrey Waldron, who is filming the episodes directed by Naim and MacDonald.

In late March 2025, filming took place in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, with Charlie Cox seen wearing his black Daredevil suit at the Josie’s Bar set. In early April, actor Wilson Bethel filmed scenes in the Chelsea area. By mid-May, filming was halfway done and is expected to finish in July 2025.

Season two is set to premiere in March 2026. It will have eight episodes and will be part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
