Charlie Cox Reveals “Heartbreaking” Original Plans for ‘Daredevil: Born Again’

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is a much-anticipated project despite having an incredibly difficult development. Initially, the show was supposed to be really different, and some of the insiders even went as far as describing it as boring. The biggest shock however was that Elden Henson’s Foggy and Deborah Ann Woll’s Karen won’t return to the “reboot,” which left fans angry and a crowd went to social media to protest their absence.

Then it was announced that there have been some creative shifts when it comes to ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ and that the show will undergo a significant overhaul, slashing its episode count and centering on a new premise, and naturally, bringing again fan-favorite characters.

Speaking at AwesomeCon in Washington, D.C. gave his honest opinion regarding the shift in the story:

Aw it’s so cool, man. So cool. Yeah, it was pretty heartbreaking when they weren’t around initially. When we came back to filming and they had made some changes, which you guys obviously probably read about and stuff, you know, it was clear that Foggy and Karen are kind of the heartbeat of our show. They always were. So [it feels] really special to have them back. Huge shout out to Deborah and to Elden. I know there’s been photos, there were some set photos that came out, so I know I can talk about it because it’s on the internet. But it was really sweet to have some scenes together again.

This is something that we can totally agree with, considering that the fact that Karen & Foggy will after all be included in the show garnered a ton of positive reactions. The show just won’t be the same without the original cast.

Sometime during the development of ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ showrunners apparently decided to lean more into the upcoming show being the continuation of the series rather than a soft reboot, and we’re truly grateful for that.
