Charlize Theron Delivers Her Best ‘The Odyssey’ Look Yet With a Dior Reveal That Left London in the Dust
Christopher Nolan’s mythology-soaked epic has turned its international press tour into something of a fashion spectacle in its own right, with the film’s leading women treating every red carpet stop like a runway show. ‘The Odyssey‘ has been rolling through London and Paris this week, and each new appearance seems to top the last.
Based on Homer’s ancient Greek poem, the film follows Odysseus, King of Ithaca and played by Matt Damon, on his long journey home after the Trojan War. It boasts a sprawling ensemble that includes Zendaya, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, John Leguizamo, and Charlize Theron, who takes on the role of the nymph Calypso.
At the film’s Paris premiere on July 8, held at Le Grand Rex, Theron stepped out in a reworked Dior Fall 2026 gown that quickly emerged as one of the standout looks of the entire tour. Designed with a lace bodice and dramatic black peplum, the gown was styled by Leslie Fremar and adjusted from its original runway silhouette with a deeper, more open neckline.
That change reportedly transformed the piece from an interesting but somewhat conceptual runway design into a look that felt distinctly tailored to Theron, giving the silhouette a sleeker and more form-fitting shape. She completed the outfit with black sandals, along with Dior jewelry that included a coordinating diamond and sapphire ring and a pink gold Diorissima ring, with hair by Adir Abergel and makeup by Kate Lee.
Theron shared additional photos from the appearance on her own Instagram, captioning the post with a playful nod to her age and continued red carpet dominance. The caption, paired with the lace gown’s undeniable impact, quickly had fashion commentators calling it her strongest moment of the press tour so far.
That reaction comes after a London premiere look that generated plenty of conversation for very different reasons. For that appearance, Theron wore a black velvet gown from Givenchy’s Fall 2026 collection, designed by Sarah Burton, paired with a set of oversized white arm warmers that ended up dominating the discussion around her outfit more than the dress itself.
Reaction to those gloves was notably split, with some praising the bold styling choice and others considering it a bit of a misstep compared to the sleeker gown underneath. The Paris look, by contrast, has been widely framed as something of a course correction, trading the divisive accessory for a more streamlined, universally praised silhouette.
Theron’s Paris stop also included a separate appearance earlier in the day at the film’s photocall near the Trocadero, where she paired a sharp black blazer with satin mini shorts from Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann, giving fans a preview of the design house’s upcoming Spring 2027 collection ahead of its official unveiling.
Rate Charlize Theron's Paris look
Across both her London and Paris looks, Theron’s choices have echoed a broader theme running through the film’s entire press tour, with actresses like Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, and Lupita Nyong’o all leaning into dramatic, mythology-inspired silhouettes that nod to the movie’s Greek origins without directly costuming as their characters. Theron’s mix of high drama and old Hollywood glamour has fit neatly into that pattern while still carving out its own distinct identity.
With ‘The Odyssey’ set to hit theaters on July 17, the cast still has more press stops ahead, meaning there is likely plenty more red carpet spectacle on the way before the film’s release date arrives. If the jump from London to Paris is any indication, Theron shows no signs of slowing down her fashion momentum.
