Chris Hemsworth is coming back as Thor in Avengers: Doomsday, but it sounds like one big location from past movies won’t be joining him this time around.

During a recent chat with the Sunday Mail, Hemsworth said he doesn’t think the movie will return to Scotland, where New Asgard was filmed in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. Filming is already happening at Windsor Great Park in England, near Pinewood Studios, and there’s no sign that Scotland is part of the plan.

“Filming The Avengers in Scotland was a really cool experience,” Hemsworth said. “It doesn’t look like we are coming back for Doomsday. But I’d love to not only visit there again but to film and do more work in the country. The people are amazing.”

Hemsworth has always shown love for Scotland. He praised the country’s beautiful landscapes and said the Highlands are perfect for big action scenes. “There is something majestic about the Highlands,” he said. “I’d love to do another movie there one day. It’s just a place made for an iconic battle scene. The backdrop is just stunning.”

The 41-year-old actor also reflected on how much the role of Thor has meant to him. “I love the character, and being cast as Thor has opened up so many opportunities.”

Thor made his Marvel debut in 2011 and has since appeared in more than nine MCU films. Avengers: Endgame became one of the highest-grossing movies ever, earning over £2 billion worldwide.

Fans may remember that New Asgard became Thor’s home after the Snap. The Asgardians rebuilt their lives in the small Norwegian village of Tønsberg, which later became an independent nation recognized by the United Nations. Thor eventually handed leadership over to Valkyrie, who is still the ruler of New Asgard, as seen in The Marvels.

So while we might not see New Asgard in Avengers: Doomsday, it sounds like Chris Hemsworth still has plenty of love for the place, and for the people of Scotland.
