Chris Pratt’s ‘The Terminal List’ Finally Sets Its Season 2 Return After a Four-Year Wait With a New Trailer
Few shows have tested fan patience quite like Chris Pratt’s globe-trotting military thriller has over the past several years. What began as one of Prime Video’s biggest breakout hits back in 2022 has spent the years since caught in a holding pattern, with updates trickling out just often enough to keep hope alive without ever delivering a firm date.
That drought traces back largely to Pratt’s own packed schedule, which has kept him bouncing between blockbuster after blockbuster since the show’s debut. Between “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” “The Garfield Movie,” and Netflix’s “The Electric State,” finding room in his calendar for another demanding season of television proved far more complicated than fans realized.
That wait is officially over. “The Terminal List” Season 2 will premiere all eight episodes on Wednesday, October 21, exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide, marking Pratt’s return as Navy SEAL Commander James Reece nearly five years after the show’s record-breaking debut.
This new chapter draws from Jack Carr’s second novel in the series, “True Believer,” sending Reece on what’s been described as a journey of violent redemption as he searches for new purpose after finishing the list that defined the first season. The story expands considerably beyond the psychological revenge thriller of Season 1, unfolding as a globe-trotting espionage saga that takes Reece from the Indian Ocean across Africa, through the Middle East, and into Europe.
That expanded scope explains much of the lengthy gap between seasons. Production for Season 2 spanned three continents, including South Africa, North America, and Morocco, wrapping filming in Toronto this past October before finishing post-production work in March.
Pratt returns as executive producer through his Indivisible Productions banner, working alongside showrunner David DiGilio, author Jack Carr, director Antoine Fuqua and Kat Samick through Hill District Media, former Army Ranger and writer Max Adams, and former Navy SEAL, writer, actor, and technical advisor Jared Shaw. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, MRC, and Civic Center Media.
Returning cast members include Tom Hopper, Constance Wu, Dar Salim, and Luke Hemsworth, with Gabriel Luna joining the ensemble as new character Freddy Strain. That returning core lends some continuity to a season that’s otherwise pushing Reece into far more expansive territory than his first outing.
Pratt has also teased some playful fantasy casting for future installments of the franchise, floating the idea of bringing his father-in-law, Arnold Schwarzenegger, into the fold. Speaking about the possibility, Pratt said he’d “love to incorporate Arnold in The Terminal List,” adding that fans of Carr’s books would likely recognize which character he has in mind, telling Josh Horowitz on the “Happy, Sad, Confused” podcast that he thinks casting Schwarzenegger in the role “would be so f***ing epic.”
The binge-release format marks a notable departure for a show of this scale, given how rare it’s become for major Prime Video originals to drop entire seasons at once rather than staggering episodes weekly. That decision suggests confidence in the season’s pacing and structure, betting that audiences will want to consume Reece’s next mission in one extended sitting rather than waiting week to week.

Since its original 2022 debut, “The Terminal List” franchise has accumulated more than 100 million viewers worldwide, a track record that’s kept anticipation high even through years of delays and uncertainty. With prequel series “The Terminal List: Dark Wolf” also currently available on the platform, fans now have a clear runway to catch up before Reece’s next mission finally arrives this fall.
