New York City has become the most recognisable horror landscape in recent cinema, and it looks like Paramount and John Krasinski are leaning into that hard.

The production of ‘A Quiet Place Part III‘ has been rolling through the streets of the city since May, treating curious bystanders to increasingly spectacular glimpses of the sequel in action. The latest footage to surface online, captured at the city’s Seaport district, is among the most striking yet.

Cillian Murphy has been photographed and filmed at New York City’s Seaport location for the upcoming horror sequel, with behind-the-scenes footage and images circulating widely on social media. Principal photography on the film began on May 10, with Arnau Valls Colomer serving as cinematographer, and the production has since moved through several New York locations, treating the city itself as a co-star in ways that fans of the franchise will find immediately familiar.

The new footage from the Seaport captures an action-heavy sequence filmed during Pride Parade conditions, as well as a later scene in which Murphy raises a prop rifle alongside two extras. John Krasinski was on set directing both sequences. The footage and photographs were shared widely online, generating significant excitement about the film’s scale and tone.

Set photos from the production have already indicated that Murphy and franchise newcomer Jack O’Connell appear to be at the center of the film’s most intense action, with both actors seen running through New York streets from an unseen danger in earlier filming days. The Seaport material adds another dimension to that picture, suggesting a film that is threading its action through recognisable New York settings in ways that will resonate with audiences.

Murphy returns to the franchise as Emmett, the hardened survivor he first played in ‘A Quiet Place Part II.’ Emmett was introduced as a friend of John Krasinski’s Lee Abbott, a character who reluctantly ended up helping the Abbott family navigate an alien-overrun world and who became a fan favourite over the course of the second film.

The full returning cast includes Emily Blunt as Evelyn Abbott and Millicent Simmonds as Regan Abbott, alongside Noah Jupe reprising his role, with new additions Jack O’Connell, Katy O’Brian, and Jason Clarke joining the ensemble. The combination of returning franchise anchors and high-calibre new arrivals has given the production a significant amount of anticipation to manage, and the footage being captured on New York streets is only adding to it.

The choice of New York as the primary filming location is a deliberate callback to the world the franchise has been building. ‘A Quiet Place: Day One,’ the 2024 prequel directed by Michael Sarnoski, was set in New York City during the initial alien arrival and starred Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, and Djimon Hounsou, establishing the city as ground zero for the franchise’s mythology. Krasinski’s decision to return there for the trilogy’s conclusion suggests a deliberate narrative closing of the loop.

Krasinski announced the start of production on social media in May, sharing a photo from the set featuring a clapperboard positioned in front of the Manhattan Bridge Arch and Colonnade in Chinatown, with the caption “Here. We. Go! Part III.” That post alone was enough to send the fanbase into overdrive. The subsequent months of filming, and the steady stream of set footage reaching the internet, have kept that energy at a sustained high.

‘A Quiet Place Part III’ is scheduled for release by Paramount Pictures on July 30, 2027. The film is being positioned as the conclusion to the trilogy that began with the original 2018 film, and with Krasinski back in the director’s chair writing and producing as well, the creative continuity that fans have been hoping for appears to be intact.

Together, the films in the franchise have earned more than $900 million worldwide and established one of modern horror’s most successful and tonally distinct series, making the stakes for Part III considerable. A prop rifle at a Seaport, a Pride Parade in the background, and an Oscar winner in the frame suggests the concluding chapter is going to be worth the wait.
