Deadpool 3 Trailer Just Revealed The Movies Main Villain Cassandra Nova

Months before the teaser trailer for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ was released rumors were going around that Emma Corrin would be playing the movie’s villain Cassandra Nova. Those rumors were confirmed by US Copyright Listing, and later by the official IMDb page. Cassandra Nova is a character from the comics with a pretty gruesome story.

Cassandra was Xavier’s twin while both were gestation in the womb. Xavier recognized Cassandra as being the so-called “Mummudrai” by the Shi’ar, an equal and opposite spirit of Professor Charles Xavier.

Due to Xavier’s genetic potential, Cassandra was able to manifest in physical form, effectively becoming his twin. However, when gestating in their mother’s womb, Sharon Xavier, Cassandra was recognized by Charles as malevolent, leading him to attempt to kill her with his emerging psychic abilities. This resulted in a miscarriage for Sharon, although Cassandra survived and spent decades in a sewer wall, constructing a new body and plotting revenge against her brother.

Cassandra is responsible for numerous genocides and attempted genocides against both mutants and mankind, so it seems fitting that she joined the MCU’s array of villains.

We know nothing about her motives within the context of the movie, but industry insiders do, or at least they pretend they do. Cosmic Circus’ Alex Perez recently posted six things we need to know about Cassandra Nova, and it sounds like your typical run-of-the-mill villain:

Traits 1-5 describe pretty much most of the Marvel villains, still, this post is special because Ryan Reyndols liked it, which means that what Alex wrote is pretty accurate as far as the movie goes. There’s also a rumor that Cassandra loves killing Professor X variants across the multiverse.

Other than this, most of what we know about the villain comes from the trailer. We saw how easily Cassandra went up against Wolverine. Various theories have developed that tie Nova with the fact that Wolverine’s reality got demolished. We can expect that at some point in time, Cassandra annihilated X-Men in that reality and Wolverine was unable (or unwilling) to stop her which is why he is currently shunned.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is set to premiere on July 26. The film will be available in various premium formats, including IMAX, RealD 3D, Dolby Cinema, 4DX, and Cinemark XD. Initially planned for release on September 6, November 8, and May 3, it will now be part of Phase Five of the MCU.
