Dafne Keen has become one of the most sought-after guests on the convention circuit these days, and it’s not hard to see why. Between her breakout turn in ‘Logan,’ her surprise return in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ and her role in ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte,’ fans keep showing up in droves hoping to hear what she has to say about the characters they love, and this year’s stop in Massachusetts was no exception.

That momentum carried straight into ‘Fan Expo Boston,’ where Keen sat down for a conversation about her career, the physical demands of stunt work, and her evolving relationship with the role that started it all. Given how beloved Laura Kinney has become since ‘Logan’ first introduced her back in 2017, it’s no surprise that X-23 dominated the conversation once again.

That connection to the character played out in a lighter moment during the convention when Keen was spotted putting on a pair of X-23-style glasses onstage, joking that “these are not going to fit my face but we” before continuing with the bit. It’s a callback to a similar moment from Fan Expo Canada just the week before, suggesting the glasses have become something of a recurring gag between Keen and her fans on this tour.

That playful energy carried over into the more serious parts of the panel, where Keen opened up about wanting more time with the character in the future. In front of what was described as a record-breaking crowd, MovieWeb’s Joe Deckelmeier asked whether she still had “unfinished business” with Laura.

Speaking to MovieWeb during the Fan Expo Boston panel, Keen answered without hesitation, calling Laura “such an interesting kind of tormented character” who “has so much more story to live.” She went on to describe her lasting interest in returning to the role, framing Laura’s comic book history as a well of material still worth exploring on screen.

That kind of enthusiasm isn’t new for Keen when it comes to X-23. She’s previously said she’d want to keep playing the character indefinitely, and her brief but memorable appearance in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ only reignited fan interest in seeing Laura take on a bigger role somewhere down the line, especially given how positively that cameo was received by longtime fans of the character.

Dafne Keen’s X-23 Reportedly Set to Return for Marvel’s ‘X-Men’ Reboot

Marvel Studios has not confirmed any plans involving Keen or X-23 beyond her ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ cameo, but that hasn’t stopped speculation from swirling. With the MCU’s mutant storylines expanding and an ‘X-Men’ reboot already in motion, fans have floated everything from an ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ appearance to a larger standalone arc for Laura down the road.

For now, none of that is official, and Keen’s comments at Fan Expo Boston were more about her personal hopes for the character than any concrete plan from Marvel. Still, her willingness to keep showing up in X-23 mode, glasses and all, signals that she’s far from ready to close the book on Laura Kinney, no matter what direction the studio ultimately takes.

Fan Expo Boston wrapped its latest run at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center on August 9, drawing a lineup that also included stars from ‘Star Wars’ and ‘The Boys’ this year. For Keen, though, it was clear the convention crowd still shows up wanting to talk about one character above all else.
