The final episode of Dandadan’s second season just aired, and right after that, the official website and social media accounts confirmed some big news.

Dandadan is getting a third season. The announcement didn’t come with a release date or extra details, but fans now know the story will continue.

Dandadan, also written as Dan Da Dan, is a manga series by Yukinobu Tatsu. It started on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ app in April 2021 and has been collected into 20 volumes as of July 2025.

The manga mixes supernatural action and sci-fi, following two teenagers with special powers who team up to fight both yokai and aliens, often with help from their friends.

The anime version is made by Science Saru. The first season aired in Japan from October to December 2024, while the second season followed quickly from July to September.

Both seasons had 12 episodes each. The first season was directed by Fuga Yamashiro with scripts by Hiroshi Seko, character designs by Naoyuki Onda, creature designs by Yoshimichi Kameda, and music by Kensuke Ushio. Season two brought in Abel Góngora as co-director alongside Yamashiro.

Music has also been a big part of the anime. Season one used “Otonoke” by Creepy Nuts as the opening theme and “Taidada” by Zutomayo as the ending theme. For season two, the opening was “Kakumei Dōchū” by Aina the End, while the ending was “Doukashiteru” by WurtS.

Streaming rights have been spread out worldwide. Crunchyroll streams Dandadan outside of Asia, while Netflix also has it globally. Hulu and Animation Digital Network carry it in the United States and parts of Europe. Muse Communication distributes it in Asia-Pacific. GKIDS has the theatrical and home release rights in North America.

Looking at how fast the first two seasons came out, it seems likely fans will have to wait longer for season three. Science Saru usually only works on one or two anime a year, and the studio already has a Ghost in the Shell project lined up for next year.

That means the next season of Dandadan might not arrive until 2027.

Fans believe the wait will be worth it though, since the third season is expected to cover one of the manga’s biggest arcs yet. As one fan put it, “They definitely need the time to cook, next season will cover Dandadan’s best and longest arc yet.”
