Dave Filoni is talking about the creative ideas that come in for Star Wars, and some of them are so unusual that he says he can’t even share the craziest one.

Filoni has been a major part of Lucasfilm for many years. He joined the company in 2005 and worked closely with Star Wars creator George Lucas. One of his early big roles was helping build the animation side of the studio, which later led to shows like Star Wars: The Clone Wars. He also played a big part in expanding Star Wars storytelling into television and streaming.

Over time, Filoni became one of the key creative leaders at Lucasfilm. He worked with Jon Favreau on The Mandalorian, helping bring Star Wars back to live-action TV in a big way. He is also involved in other major projects like Star Wars Rebels and the series Ahsoka.

Filoni currently holds a top leadership position at Lucasfilm as President and Chief Creative Officer, with Lynwen Brennan serving as Co-President. Even with this role, he continues to focus heavily on storytelling and development inside the Star Wars universe.

In the interview, Filoni talked about how some ideas might sound strange at first but can still turn into something important later. He pointed to one example from the early days of The Mandalorian. He said: “At the time, when Jon [Favreau] came in and pitched a child of Yoda’s species, that might’ve seemed crazy… Crazy is opportunity sometimes.”

That idea later became one of the most popular parts of modern Star Wars, showing how unusual concepts can still work very well if they are handled right.

Filoni also said there is one pitch he has heard that is even more extreme, but he refused to go into detail. He made it clear that not every idea can be shared publicly while projects are still being discussed inside the studio.

His work over the years has helped shape the direction of modern Star Wars storytelling. Shows like The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, and The Mandalorian have all been important in building a connected universe across different time periods and characters.

He is also currently working on Ahsoka, which is continuing into a second season. Alongside Jon Favreau, and of course, we’re all waiting for the release of The Mandalorian and Grogu. The movie is planned for release in cinemas on May 22.

Overall, Filoni’s message is simple. In Star Wars, even ideas that sound strange at first can become something big if the story works and the characters are strong enough.
