David Beckham’s Son Romeo Lands First Acting Role in Bold LGBTQ+ Drama ‘Forty Love’
Romeo Beckham is taking his first steps into acting with a new French film that marks a major change in his career. The son of football legend David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham will appear in the upcoming LGBTQ+ drama “Forty Love.”
The film, directed by fashion photographer Pierre-Ange Carlotti, will feature Romeo alongside actors including Paul Kircher, Guillaume Canet, and Benjamin Voisin. According to details shared about the project, the movie is currently in post-production and is expected to arrive on November 25.
“Forty Love” follows Sacha Gallo, a young tennis player played by Kircher, who is chasing success on the professional tennis circuit in Paris. His life is focused on winning and reaching the highest level of the sport, with his father also acting as his coach.
However, everything changes when a new and mysterious competitor enters his world. Romeo Beckham plays the challenger who pushes Sacha to question more than just his place on the tennis court. The new rivalry also forces him to confront unexpected feelings and a new side of himself.
The film’s story explores ambition, identity, and love, with the official description calling the relationship between the two characters a powerful experience. “For the first time, he faces an opponent of an entirely different nature — love,” the synopsis says. “A force as exhilarating as it is destabilizing — and far more dangerous than anything he has encountered on the court.”
Producer Hugo Selignac praised director Carlotti’s creative style, telling Variety that there is “a rare tenderness, melancholy and strength” in the filmmaker’s work. He added that Carlotti moving into directing felt like a natural step and described the movie as a “sensual, romantic and deeply moving romantic fable and coming-of-age story.”
For Romeo Beckham, the project represents another major step away from football and deeper into the fashion and entertainment worlds. Before landing his first acting role, he built a career as a model and worked with major fashion brands, including Yves Saint Laurent and Balenciaga.
The 23-year-old previously spent years exploring different career paths. He trained in football and played for teams connected to Inter Miami CF, as well as Brentford’s reserve side, before deciding to leave the sport in 2024 and focus on fashion.
His move into acting now adds another chapter to the Beckham family’s connection with entertainment. While his parents have spent decades in the spotlight, Romeo is building his own path through modeling, fashion, and now film.
Although his first movie role comes with plenty of attention because of his famous family, “Forty Love” appears to be a chance for Romeo to step outside that image. The romantic drama gives him a completely different challenge and places him in a story focused on emotions rather than fame or sports.
With the film still preparing for release, audiences will soon find out how Beckham handles his first major acting role and whether this marks the beginning of a new career on screen.
