The future looks bright for a possible Superman spin-off show focused on Mister Terrific.

Superman hit theaters in the U.S. earlier this month. The movie, written and directed by James Gunn and made by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures, stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor.

A recent Wall Street Journal article revealed that Gunn is thinking about creating two new DC Universe shows that would spin off from Superman.

One show would focus on Edi Gathegi’s character Mister Terrific, and the other would center on Jimmy Olsen, played by Skyler Gisondo.

Fans noticed on X that DC has filed new trademarks for Mr. Terrific and Mister Miracle. These trademarks cover multiple categories, including motion pictures, which suggests the possibility of new projects.

The Mister Miracle part isn’t very surprising since Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios are already working on an animated show created by Tom King. But the Mr. Terrific trademark is exciting because it hints that a live-action show might be moving closer to becoming real.

It’s important to remember that filing a trademark doesn’t guarantee the show will happen. Sometimes it’s just a way for DC to protect the name in case they decide to move forward later. James Gunn hasn’t confirmed that a Mister Terrific show starring Edi Gathegi is officially in the works yet. But during his recent appearance on Happy Sad Confused podcast the director refused to elaborate when asked about Mr. Terrific shows & Jimmy Olsen shows.

Gathegi spoke to Variety about his future with DC. He said he has a “multi-project deal” but doesn’t know the details yet.

“What James is driving home is the idea that they’re never going to rush into production with scripts that aren’t ready, so even whatever they do have planned for my characters is irrelevant until the draft comes in and it’s shootable,” Gathegi explained. “So I don’t count my chickens before they hatch. I want to be involved in this universe in a major way, and whether or not that comes to fruition is just a matter of time and faith and other people’s hard work.”

For now, fans will have to wait and see if Mister Terrific gets his own show. But between the recent trademark filing and Gathegi’s deal, it seems like it’s at least a strong possibility down the line.
