Demi Lovato recently joined the conversation about who deserves a spot on Disney Channel’s “Mount Rushmore,” offering her own perspective on the network’s most influential stars.

The discussion started when Raven-Symoné shared her picks during a March 10 appearance, naming herself, Hilary Duff, and Shia LaBeouf as the key figures who helped shape Disney Channel.

Raven left out Miley Cyrus, explaining her focus was on a different era. “No, not Miley. I love you, Miley, but not Miley. She came after,” she said. She also paid tribute to the late Lee Thompson Young of The Famous Jett Jackson, noting his impact as the first Black-led Disney show.

“He is no longer with us, but he was the first Black show on Disney,” Raven said, highlighting his work from 1998 to 2001. Lovato, speaking on the Chicks in the Office podcast on March 18, offered a broader take on the network’s legacy.

She questioned whether the early pop stars from the variety show era should get top billing. “You know, there was Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Does that come first? Does that count? But, maybe not,” she said.

The singer and actress explained that there’s a difference between appearing on Disney and really helping shape the channel’s identity. “They [Mickey Mouse Club members] were on Disney, but they didn’t transform Disney Channel into what it is,” Lovato said.

She credited the early 2000s sitcom stars with defining the network’s formula for success. “I think Raven really did, Hilary really did that,” she added. When the conversation turned to Shia LaBeouf being included for Even Stevens, Lovato kept her response brief. “I’m okay on that one,” she said, choosing not to expand on her opinion.

Lovato emphasized that Disney Channel’s history is too big to be limited to just four names. She suggested that the early pioneers should be recognized separately because they laid the groundwork for later stars. “They came before us, you know what I mean? They paved the way,” she said.

Looking at her own generation, Lovato shared who she would include on her personal Mount Rushmore: the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez, and herself. “Hopefully me,” she joked, rounding out the list of stars who defined her era on Disney Channel.

Who would be on your list? Would it be the original icons from the Mickey Mouse Club era or sitcom royalty that came later down the line? Share your thoughts in the comments.
